Questions & Mysteries Correct translation of the databook about Vista vs Mihawk.

#67
Vista possessing the same tier of skill as Mihawk doesn't implicate they stand on the same level when haki and the other stats are factored. This is probably the best interpretation. Another is that being on the hightest tier is a broad range despite Vista stands massively weaker. If not Mihawk's VC mentions how he is waiting for a swordmaster to surpass his rival Shanks.

It doesn't matter which translation people use they all say the same which is Vista matched Mihawk swordsmanship skills in their battle. As in that particular battle between those two during Marineford. That doesn't mean he's equal to Mihawk or on his level. It just talking about that battle.

That's no different than Zoro besting/beating Kaido in their 1v1 battle. That doesn't mean Zoro is stronger than Kaido. It just means he won the battle that we saw between those two.

Worst case scenario for Mihawk is Vista can equal a non-series Mihawk in battle while he's not even thinking about him or focus on him their battle.

Good for Vista.

databook isnt wrong
in the clash
vista did clash with mihawk evenly
its rehashing what happened

if you go further down
there is another one that insist he is the strongest above the others
that shanks swordsmanship is top level and mihawk is the world strongest .

apoo could clash with zoro and drake for a good amount of time as well and apoo could prob do more however a logical person would argue in a serious fight zoro is beating apoo handily.

these statements can be true without being mutually exclusive or a contradiction.
Databook saying vista = mihawk
Also saying shanks < Mihawk (only real fact there exist)

And its saying again Vista > Shanks

What a thirdparty bullshits.
remove vista

This actually sounds like a good argument for a Shanks vs Mihawk.
Just change It like: Mihawk possessing superior skill as a swordsman doesn't implicate he's stronger than Shanks when haki and other stats are factored.
Well Mihawk is waiting for a swordmaster to surpass his rival Shanks to emerge, this is what his vivre card dictates. It's easy to make 1+1 in this circumstance overall. It's extremely unlikely that he wants that not in order to challenge them deeming them as a superior fight once surpassing Shanks, or that it's merely a matter of skill and Mihawk is waiting for someone who is more skilled than Shanks despite in that instance he would lose to Shanks.

There are little doubts about Mihawk > Shanks.

It's the same databook that stated:

- Shanks is equal to an admiral
Said no Databook ever. It was in the V Jump and there was written "Shanks can fight an Admiral level opponent equally.", hence he's on their Tier.

Mihawk is also on their Tier. So roughly Admiral = Shanks = Mihawk.

- Mihawk looks for someone who would surpass Shanks to face him
Which results in freaking Vista > Mihawk > Shanks = Admirals
How do you come to that conclusion? Databook said "Mihawk awaits the day a swordsman appear who's stronger than even his rival Shanks." If anything that means Mihawk > Shanks (inside the same Tier), but nothing about Vista whatsoever.

Databooks are fully supervised by Oda and thus canon. Accept it.
Post automatically merged:

oda has referred to his databook in an sbs answer
those refusing to take it serious due to some ''inconsistency'' should realize the manga itself isnt consistent.
the databook is canon. learn to absorb information regardless of what agenda you push.
Exactly. There is barely any inconsistency in Databooks. Only time there were quite many were in Databook Vivre Card intitial releases, but they all got eventually corrected.

Manga has countless of inconsistencies as well - doesent mean it isnt canon or so.

Vista being depicted on the same tier of skill as Mihawk can make sense in two scenarios. The first is that only sword skill is factored and not haki and the other usually conceived stats. The second is hightest tier simply engulfes a vast plethora of people which means that if the strongest swordsman let's say challenged the worst of that tier it would still look like spite overall.

words in Databook have no value honestly

It's the same databook that stated:

- Shanks is equal to an admiral

To then say

- Mihawk looks for someone who would surpass Shanks to face him
Which results in freaking Vista > Mihawk > Shanks = Admirals

According to Databooks lol

Again, you guys gotta stop this Databook as an evidence

Databook should be only used for entertainment to know a bit more about the character like "Their heights, favorite food, which blue sea he was born on, maybe some past history info" and small details we wouldn't remember on casual days

But using it for powerscaling or to determine if someone is dead or alive like "Sabo" is bad move
Databooks and Vivre Cards are 100% canon. That line about Shanks being equal to admirals is from V-Jump which isn't canon.
