I could agree with the current development. Actually never hated Akainu. We need villain like him in Oda fairy tales story.

Any normal person over 18 years old with functioning brain can tell Oda tryhard shows his reader Kaido is the strongest current alive among his character in his story called ONE PIECE.

What gets me even about this example is that literally no canon or even semi canon material straight up says that Kaido was the worlds strongest creature. This example here has suspicious quotes around the title. The manga says he was said to be. Very different treatment from whitebeards title, which was manga fact.

Except Kaido is the strongest :
Omigahsima is called "the island of strongest" because of him being there

Said to be doesn't mean "he isn't "
Just like Dwayne Johnson is said to be /also known as the Rock.
You can't say Dwayne isn't the Rock when people use "Also known as" or "said to be"
Kaido was the guy Oda uses to hype Mothers as strongest living beings , not Akainu.
Kaido the guy everyone fear and hype as someone you can't take down
Gorosei fear Kaido more or equal to Luffy being Nika, while they talk down Akainu like some mid

Alone from the words "strongest marine" we dont get any info about relation to pirates. Even the strongest marine could be weaker than the weakest pirate, just from the standpoint.

To be fair Oda always hypes up his characters in the ongoing/upcoming arcs though Kaido > Akainu is not something that should go against what the OP is claiming. It just makes the ranking go to Kaido > Akainu > Garp.

If you actually read the translation on the page, it says that Shanks made the marines retreat in virtue of his power.

That literally didn’t happen lol
