Controversial DEVELOPMENT INERTIA - Or why Oda MAY have made an error in Wano.

I understand your overall point yes :kayneshrug:
Then you should perfectly understand why Carrot's current developpment is either a mistake either incomplete. And I'm not sayin that Carrot should join the crew, I'm past that. I'm saying that Carrot should want to go back on the sea, for ANY reasons because she was portrayed as loving it too much for it to be ignored.

He made a big one and it started with N.

This was just a personal unmet expectation you had. No matter how you twist it, it boils down to just that.
Do you understand the concept of development inertia ?

Do you understand the concept of development inertia ?

Do you mean the concept you made up to justify your expectations as admitted in the very beginning of your post?
We will analyse in detail a storytelling concept I call "development inertia" (don't bother its a neologism of mine that I created) to see if Oda has indeed made a mistake with Carrot or not.
Yes, I understand the concept, I read your post. Oda is so great he incorporated your concept and then subverted it.

On a serious note, sure, Carrot wants to sail and find adventure, literally just like Vivi felt at home with the Straw Hats and wanted to go on with them to continue living adventures. Will they be back in the story in some form? Sure, just like Vivi has. Even Jyabura and Wapol have. She will help from the sidelines, or support, during the "final war" or whatever. Not much different to what she did throughout the story so far.

So what I mean to say, in fewer words, is:
He made a big one and it started with N.

This was just a personal unmet expectation you had. No matter how you twist it, it boils down to just that.

Sometime, when an irregularity is obseved, a theory/concept needs to be created to explain that. But this concept or rather storytelling process does in fact apply to every character, in fact in hope you understood who ODYSSEY was ?

Oda is so great he incorporated your concept and then subverted it.
No, this is something that we do most of the time inconsciously. But sometime we forget it. It think that's the case with Oda here.

We are on a completely different level of "wanting adventure" here. Oda repeatitely shown Carrot being AMAZED by the sea. That's not the case with Vivi.

Carrot’s definitely not coming back for a while, which is whenever Zou comes back into the picture. I’d say in the final arc along with Yamato and Momonosuke, unless we get a Wano 2.0 and Yamato joins before then.

It sounds like we’re going to Elbaf next though, so that’s probably out of the question.

I can’t believe all Carrot got in the end was her crappy “Pedro…” exit. The fact that we didn’t get a goodbye is proof that Oda changed his plans for her near the end. :catsweat:

Oda obviously decided to leave Yamato and Carrot behind and deal with them later in the story, when Pluton is activated.

Carrot still has a great shot, and I think she'll join. Honestly, Carrot staying back on Zou and training with Neku and Inu to get stronger and develop Haki is probably a good idea for her.

So you finally accept oda made a mistake? Good, that's character development.
I can be critical of Oda on a lot of things (the representation of women, his apprehension of killing characters) but the reality is that he make very few mistakes in term of storytelling.

What you see as one of the rarest mistake of oda in wano is exactly what we see as one of the rarest W oda pulled in wano :kayneshrug:
This forum is full of toxicity, that toxicity influence the negativity toward One Piece, I don't intend for people to understand everything I say here on the first go. I do expect tho that once I have finished all my threads.. some people will understand that their criticism of One Piece are bias.
