And Kizaru wasn’t shown using Haki either, so it’s just back to square one. Trying to pretend that Luffy’s attack wasn’t the 2nd most powerful we’ve seen from him is also pointless. It just shows the lengths that Luffy had to go after a tiring battle to even momentarily knock Kizaru down. It then left him helpless on the ground begging for food while Kizaru was up and kicking his crewmates afterwards.
Optimistic to think a Thunder Bagua is touching him when base Luffy could mostly dodge those. Kizaru on the other hand completely shut out Snakeman Luffy. Kaido couldn’t even track Snakeman’s attacks without using future sight.

Moves like Star Gun don't leave a lot of external marks, it's mostly damaging on the inside.
I'm not saying Kidd did nothing, but his beams definitely did nothing besides trap her for a second.
The steel beams were the only thing he hit her with before she powered up and said she’d face both of them.
It simply follows that it did enough damage to get her to sacrifice lifespan, not just merely trapped her.
Kid even breaks her arm later with his steel bull, so throwing metal at her with sufficient force does seem to rack up damage.
