That targeted training is more proficient than simply battling pirates etc out, because it helps you do the right things at the right time instead of unlocking new forms of haki casually. That's up to the fate then.

Well this is my point. Battles are not as proficient as trainings, because Shanks didn't explain him how to use advanced haki and you know what's funny, perhaps he didn't even use it / need it.

Those Boulders seem at least twice the height of Luffy who's 5'8

Assuming this is a cubic square

The size of each is 10×10×10= 1000 Cubic meter

The weight of Stone is 118 Pounds per Cubic Meter

Meaning the weight of each of those are 118000 Pounds. Aka 59 Tons

So both Luffy and Kidd lifted dozens of 59 Tons boulders while weakened by Seastone. And Kidd only did it with one hand

Let's add that 10 tons inverse is considered a big deal, Boo was knocked out by 10 tons and Dellinger cried in pain when he kicked Machvise in his 10 tons form.

That training must have added A LOT to their Physical strength

Oda off paneled their fight against Kaido and got Killer in a Psycho state to fight Zoro so he could place their power anywhere he wants now. Kidd could literally be stronger than Luffy for all we know... So yeah they definitely got stronger.

Narratively speaking, a writer doesn't put them through what Oda has had them go through without some sort of benefit. They're going to look pretty decent in tandem or Kid is actually going to look like a strong contender by himself

I think so too. They got no time to empower that wise. It generally takes specific training to attain that quickly, like the one Zoro and Luffy undertook.

I still think whoever hopes they will outperform Luffy and Zoro in Old vs New is going to be disappointed.

Imo they, together with Law, will cover the spot Law covered in thebfight woth Doffy. So they will show something, probably even something cool on the level of gamma knife, they didn't show until now. Show something to the level to be relevant in the fight but not determinant (that is Luffy), also by achieving some results they will become later hypetools for Kaido and BM (like Law woth Doffy).
