New magical haki power that was actually old, but now is new.
I wonder if Oda thought about that when he created Logias. "Do I have to create a gimmick way to fight each Logia type? Nah, magical power can hit them normally. Easier this way."

You're taking that statement way too literal. All Oda meant is that he didn't want Luffy to be capable of punching Kaido so hard it knocks him out.

Penetration Haki destroys from the inside out. It is far beyond just blunt force damage inflicted by a punch.
No odas has literally just given luffy a stronger punch than he had before. And luffy wont beat kaido with a stronger punch.

Haki was foreshadowed in skypiea and Alabasta
So?
The first real thing that actually was said to counter Logias, was the Yami Yami no Mi. But it had the drawback of taking more damage.
Couldn't BB just get Haki? Dude managed to put that scar on Shanks, Buggy said on that flashback that Teach didn't sleep at all for days. He is obviously something else.
Same way Doflamingo simply acquired the Mera Mera, he could just "acquire" de Gura Gura no Mi. Just some "I did all that to get Whitebeard killed and his fruit would reappear somewhere else and I would get it."
There are two scenarios.
Either Oda thought about Haki ahead and introduced all these minor appearances, or he decided to take these abilities that he used before, and make something out of them. Creating Haki.
It's kinda pointless to say "it was all calculated" when he created the Supernovas just to hype the Sabaody arc, and later decided to turn most of them into major players.

Literally all Oda meant is he didn't want Luffy beating Kaido the same way he beat Doflamingo. That quote was made "when Kaido first showed up" which was at the end of Dressrosa, right after he used King Kong Gun.

He stated "probably my audience will not be satisfied" if Luffy wins "just because" his punch is so strong.
