Given that 4/5 of Kaido's Top 5 defeated him, and Shanks is the "outlier", who's to say that he and Kaido merely clashed instead of Shanks temporarily "defeating" him?

I really doubt a Simple CoC clash would have been enough for Shanks to join that list, there must have been something more to it. And given how we barely know anything about their clash, anything could have happened

I think of DF + Haki users as he has to prioritize which one to max out.

Obviously Kaido has Top Tier Haki no doubt but Shanks is stronger in this aspect.

It seems like Kaido only brought King with him, and even though I think Kaido is stronger than Shanks, the Red Hair Pirates would win against just the two of them.
