Apoo is not a real feat for Zoro. Apoo was fighting X-Drake and Zoro at same time then Zoro stopped a little which most likely made Apoo forget about him. Similar to Zoro 1v2 Killer and Human-Fox. Apoo was knocked out more or less the same period he made Luffy knock out.

Every Strawhat better have an extreme dif fight vs the Blackbeard Pirates. They’ve been set up as the pirate crew that not only rivals, but is always one or several steps ahead of the strawhats. Defeating them should be their greatest accomplishments in the series up until that point. Im totally okay with Zoro being superior to Shiryu minus his devil fruit and the fruit being the thing that makes it an extremely hard fight. But it needs to be Zoro’s biggest 1v1 fight in the series up until that moment.

To be honest, Borsalino uses whatever he wants lol. Light sword against Ray, laser beams against WB, kicks against fodders, kicks with his power that destroy giant mangroves with a huge explosion, a weird move to travel generating lights from his hands etc.

Put it this way, Blackbeard represents an ultimate goal for Luffy in his journey to be Pirate King. These guys are the most worthy after the Straw Hats for that title.

If Luffy is given Hell to take it, so should his crew. It's a lot less worthwhile if our greatest roadblock's strongest subordinate can't push Zoro to his brink and make him grow. It would just be a really bad way to end this journey. Shiryuu is going to be an absolute beast, likely on par with Linlin of Fujitora himself.

The story demands for Shiryu to be a challenge because Zoro wont sit back and wait for others to conclude their matches.
He wont neg dif Shiryu and go off to push a Plotcage... Shiryu is plenty strong to give Zoro a decent fight, even without DF.
DF, if it can clear the aura on top of visuals, is making him extremely problematic for every character that cannot detect him.
Zoro's overwhelming strength cannot destroy Shiryu if Zoro cant tell where Shiryu is. Oda will not make it into a neg diff...

He needs to clear his aura to become undetectable by CoO.
Then he can give a good fight.
