People keep underestimating Kidd
Let's see what we know about Kidd battles:

• He went through many extreme battles during the 2 years
• Rookie Kidd fought RHP and lost his arm
• A year or 2 years ago, He fought & injured a Sweet General, then took something
• Lost to Kaido one/two month(s) ago (fought until he collapsed)

Let's see what Brulee says " during the past 2 Years...Kidd , Apoo, Bege and Urouge..."
Then she talked about how bege knowing his place and how Urouge took down a SC.

The way she cited them is defintely in order of which Supernova came first and who was recently in WCI since We know :

• Urouge recently defeated Snack during/after DR coz he was shown bandaged during Ch 795 Kaido suicidal attempt. (This was 2 weeks of 1 month prior Luffy arrival at Tottoland)
• Bege joined BM a year ago.
• Drake joined Kaido a year ago
• Law became warlord a year ago?

This means Kidd and Apoo went to Tottoland before Bege joined BM!
It also means Apoo Joined Kaido before Drake!

Which tells us that Kidd was a still a rookie when he fought the Sweet General.
It explains why people believed the rumours that Kidd lost his arm vs the SG, coz if the world knew Kidd fought RHP and there was a huge time gap (6 months or 1 year) between that battle and Vs SG, the rumours wouldn't be believed by people.

Since his feats were manipulated,
Kidd bounty didn't reach 500 millions!

What I'm trying to say is this :
Rookie Kidd was YC (high tier) level
*Even if kidd fought Snack (YC4) , Snack is still Upper-low high tier.*

He did all these without allies!
Yea, Luffy is probably above Kidd now but it doesn't change the fact Rookie Kidd did what Luffy and other Supernova could barely pull vs Yonko Crew now.

Conclusion:
Rookie Kidd is Low High tier
Current Kidd is around High high tier-inbetweener

Rookies: Kidd> Law> Luffy
DR Luffy (high-high tier *stamina issues) >= Kidd (mid/high high tier)> DR Law (low high tier *stamina issues)
Currently: Luffy (Low Top) > Kidd (~Inbetweener) > Law (~mid/high high tier)

Problem with Kidd was that Oda was doing nothing for him. He hear about him and when we see him, he's just getting beat up and vanishing for months.

There was also Oda's habit of making established characters Luffy's cheerleaders and giving Luffy power ups that would have fit other characters better(like FS for Sanji).

People, or at least myself, lost trust in Oda and had no expectations given his track record.

In another manga maybe Kid and the rest of the supernovas would have been treated as true rivals for Luffy but One Piece isn't fair to pirates that aren't members of the Roger and Straw Hats Pirates and poor Kid was doomed from the start to stay in Luffy's shadow and to never be able of catching up with Luffy's power progression, plot armor and ability to get allies.
The race was already lost in Dressrosa arc.

I refuse to believe that Kid is below YC level. It would ruin his character if after being built up as one of the strongest supernova and a possible rival to Luffy, he'd be fucking irrelevant in the fight against kaido.

I don't think Kid= Luffy, but I think he should at least be a mid diff fight for Luffy. Which given how powerful Luffy is right now, would put Kid at around YC1 level.

I see no narrative purpose in making Luffy so strong that he can casually 1 shot one of his contemporaries. I don't think that Roger was that much stronger than Big Mom or Shiki and hence Luffy shouldn't be that much stronger than Kid or Law.

Luffy can't beat Kaido unless Kid is near his strength.

Oda has shown that regular YCs can't stand up to Yonkou.

Kid being weaker makes no narrative sense.

He doesn't have hax like Law. He'd be useless if he was weaker.

Kid fought Kaido til the last breath. Luffy was quickly one shotted.

Kid escaped the prison easily. Luffy was easily caught by Queen

I don’t know why you’re being up other characters. This is purely comparing Kid to Luffy. Unless you want to say those characters are > Luffy.

I’ll concede the Kaido bit, but still Luffy wasn’t able to do anything to Kaido. Same as Kid.

Kid was captured again because of his choice to stay with his crew mate. Similar to how Luffy was captured on WCI. Does that mean Jinbei>Luffy? No
