Houken isn't great but he shouldn't have died
Would have been great if he was still around to bitch slap Qin and only fell during the Kantan arc.

I initially copiumed his demise by thinking it was going to rid Kai of her stupid Dance but naw, she still has that tomfoolery. Houken probably should have died later to a proper General Shin. He didn't need to be in Shukai.

I do still genuinely enjoy his character but the execution (heh) of his demise was done too early and a bit lacklustre.

He just showed up and died for no reason
It didn't establish Shin as a proper martial GG living up to the likes of Ouki either seeing as he still gets bodied by characters Houken realistically one shots

Kingdom declined after Gyou’Un Sama died

Literally after Gyou'Un died was when the Houken shenanigans began. Kingdom became great again during Gakuhaku Kou Sama’s brief existence.

Nah Kingdom has been alright
There is problems with every arc but overall they have been decent until Hango
Houken stuff was ass but Kochou arc, Wei alliance, the Kanpishi arc and Kanki's death were pretty good even if they had flaws
Hango is the problem and it could have easily been a great arc with an extra 2-3 chapters
The big disappointment is Ousen doing nothing so if Hara had him just do a startegy he had prepared that gets countered by Shibashou it would have been fine.
I'm not gonna let Shit Piece fans come out of their basements to praise Oda just because Hara had a mid arc.

I don't know why you folks are such a big fan of Ryoufui. He is great, but not that great to say the manga went downhill after him.

For me, Kingdom was at its peak when Riboku-Houken duo terrorized the entire China. Damn, the way Houken destroyed Gekishin was incredible.

It's less of Ryofui as a character, but more of his role. The political arcs of Kingdom were great and now they're less frequent. Sei has much less conflict and obstacles and he's less interesting as a character.

Honestly I would have had Shin go on a solo hunt for Houken after becoming a great general and that's when I'd have Houken die. Kinda parallel to Kyoukai hunting for that one shiyuu bitch

Ryofui gets hella gassed in historical shows i've watched so no wonder Hara tried to do him justice
I've seen his name being mentioned in atleast 3-4 historical tv shows even if they were korean.
Don't know if he's still famous in China but anytime someone is trying to gain power they mention how a merchant rose to prime minister in Qin

Hango isn’t over yet, thankfully. Zhao is still pursuing Qin so there is still more battle to be fought. Hango has potential to reach the same heights as prior Kingdom battles depending on how Hara climaxed the arc.

Honestly Houken always seemed like he doesn't belong in this manga. He always seems too strong for Kingdom verse, it feels he actually belongs somewhere like in Naruto world.
Same applies to Kyokai, but Houken was more extreme example.

While Ryofui was really great.
How can he blatantly told the King "I was the mastermind behind your murder attempt last night", and the King realized the truth but couldn't do shit but "ahaha you must be joking Chancellor".
That's just his debut. Dude made the biggest debut not only in Kingdom but in manga history.

Kakukai and Ryofui were also on good terms with one another, Ryofui very much respected Kakukai and the influence he possessed within Zhao. Literally Kakukai is the true ruler of Zhao, Toujou and Yuuboku are his puppets.
