Chapter Title: The Enemy Who Stands In Our Way

Shin is getting reports from all over his battlefield about his soldiers defeating their opponents. Shin orders them to move forward when Ten suddenly shows up with urgent news. It seems that Riboku tried to launch a surprise attack on Akou but failed and is now in retreat close to their current position. General Akou is requesting their support in chasing him down. Ten and Shin aren’t sure if they’ll make it in time, but this could mean immediate victory for Qin so they decide Shin should go. Ten says there are other enemy units around but thinks 10k soldiers will be enough if they attack Riboku from the side. Shin is concerned that they can’t afford to spare 10k soldiers. Ten says it will be fine because Kyoukai is holding down the right side and they only need to hold out long enough for Ouhon to come support them. All of Ten’s advisors start fretting about whether Ouhon will come help them without receiving orders from Ousen; if Ouhon doesn’t come they’ll be in a terrible position… Shin calls them all dumbasses and states he’s known Ouhon for many years. Shin starts to leave with the Red Hi Hyou and Sosui’s cavalry and leaves orders for the fastest infantry to follow after them. Ten says she’ll follow after Ouhon shows up. She warns Shin to be careful with Riboku, but also to get vengeance for Kanki, Gakurai, and Naki. Shin retorts that he still has a debt to pay to Riboku from Ouki. “That’s right… Since long ago, it’s always been Riboku who has stood in our way. I’m going to kill Riboku and become a Great General of the Heavens!”

Akou’s soldiers have Riboku surrounded but soldiers from both sides are joining the battle. Zhao’s soldiers are worried about being outnumbered. Futei says it’s because they overstayed with Akou and orders them to fight while retreating. More of Futei’s soldiers show up, and Futei breaks Riboku out of Akou’s soldiers when Shin shows up. Futei orders his soldiers to make a wall while Kaine launches an attack on the HSU. Futei and Riboku tell her to retreat but she says she’ll handle the HSU while Futei escorts Riboku to safety. Shin says to ignore them and just push after Riboku. He lays eyes on Riboku and thinks “I’ll make it. This time, I’ll make it to Riboku.”

The flashback from before the fight with Akou gets replayed. Riboku says they will target the most person. Gakushou asks who this person is, to which Riboku replies “Ri Shin of the Hi Shin Unit.”

No break.

This is so hype man. Is SBS the one meant to end Shin ? After all Riboku knows Shin killed Houken. I would love for it to be Ji Aga. In my headcanon he's at Shin/Ouhon level.

Riboku's reasoning actually aligned with what fans were claiming.
This makes the most sense. I couldn't believe how RBK came to the conclusion that Akou was the most troublesome force of Qin when in actuality (with respect to Akou here) he might be of the more insignificant ones because RBK has already seen all he can do both in offense and defense.

Riboku at this point must have future sight. He might just be a level above Ousen still. Ousen better not watch and just trust his subordinates this time around.

Yesterday from Reddit:

Folks on r/Kingdom cannot wrap around their heads on Riboku being so fucking strong lol.

@MarineHQ Anyway talking about Riboku's "vision", remember Riboku's origin tactic from the Coaliton? It's still wild to me how Riboku could use it effectively from ground level. Homei at that time was already a very hyped tactician and he absolutely required to view it from a high point.

I don't know if any other tactical mind in the series is capable of doing that.

Bored of this Riboku plot. Move on please. It is getting repetitive. Too many arcs and hundreds of chapters spent on him.
Plus, he is not an intetesting character. I stopped reading Kingdom because of Riboku's plot armor. This shit is straight up stupid at this point.
Politics focused chapters were more interesting than battlefield.

not really, here he just outsmarts people
It’s not plot armor
Outsmarting for 1000th time = plot armor.

There will be lot more stakes and tension since Riboku is targeting Shin. Shin is there on his own without any support from Ten or Kyokai - ideal chance to show off his general potential. Hope we can see some instinctual madness from him instead of him getting smashed by Riboku.

Also from the looks of it, Shin didn’t even think about the possibility of this being a trap because he was never targeted like this before.

Good news for you, Akou might live after all lol. Unless Shibashou comes out of nowhere and plows through Akou to get to Ousen.

Anyway, I am convinced that Riboku is just the type of character who will never please everyone lol. Last arc when Kanki baited him into a triple pincer and almost checkmated him, fans said “Riboku is a fraud, he couldn’t even predict that Kanki was targeting him”

And now that Riboku concocted a plan to specifically bait Shin, “oh Riboku is poorly written, he can read minds” lol

Riboku is simultaneously a fraud for not being able to read minds, but also poorly written because he can apparently read minds. Lol

Nah Riboku baiting Shin is actually extremely believable given all the times Riboku has faced Shin in the past. Shin isn’t exactly hard to predict either, he is very much an open book on the battlefield and doesn’t fight with trickery or deception lol.

That's his martial potential a genral potential is something else

Yeah I don’t get the fuss over this plan
-Riboku wants to off Shin because he’s the strongest combatant on Qin side
-Uses himself as bait to get Akou involved

It could’ve gone many different ways
-Akou calls Ouhon -> Ouhon’s head is still a game changer similar to Shin
-Akou doesn’t get baited -> proceed with the battle plan normally

Nothing requiring psychic powers lol

I bet you if it was Ousen that did this plan, it would be uncritically brilliant and there would be a queue to suck the Ou D, lol.

If my boy Shin was a little bit like Kanki, he would of capture Kaine and use her as a hostage to draw out Riboku even more.
This kind of threats/tactics makes war scenarios more interesting. Shin or none else should behave like a monk. It's battlefield. Not kids playground.

I was wondering what kind of cocaine Riboku snorted before this battle to be putting Enkan up against Shin, but this makes a lot more sense. I haven’t read the raws yet but now this is looking like a much more dangerous situation for Shin.

The Godboku showing why he has earned that title. Lol
Targeting Shin is making lot of sense here coz he alone can create a big difference between the two armies.

His ability to strike out enemy's core general/commander and having high success rate in such missions is big nuisance for any opponent.

I doubt where it was his quality rather than plot armor which saved him .... the way he starts the things is definitely his quality but the way he got saved after either defeat or in other scenarios is just plot armor. lol

To be fair, the HSU did effectively pull a hostage move once against Gaimou by capturing his strategist in order to have a prisoner exchange to get Ten back.

Besides, I don't think Shin could possibly know how personally important Kaine is to Riboku. As far as Shin is aware, Kaine is just another random retainer that Riboku would leave behind if forced to. Time spent capturing Kaine is also time spent not going immediately after Riboku. It'd be easier to swat her aside or outright kill her than to capture her.
