Riots are expression of anger and frustration. We have history of reforms being taken because of riots. It push pressure on government and garner all sorts of focus from all stakeholders.

Riots thus can be eye opener for authority - to address the underlying issues.

Often government is more keen on suppressing the riots than to address the underlying issues.

You may suppress the riots but it's like a band aid to underlying issue and not proper treatment.

On the other hand, riots often lose track of their goal - innocent people come under cross fire. And, even set bad precedents for future.

Riots are bad. These tend to be violent and affect even those who are innocent - personally, economically and socially.

Violence against your own government and people should never be a solution.

Very nuanced analysis, :holdthisw:

And this is where you lost me.

In the 1760s people were out there burning down office buildings to get government officials to resign. They were tarring and feathering people. They were raiding ships to toss tea into the harbor. They were throwing rocks at soldiers. Shit was off the rails.

Imagine opening up a newspaper today that was like, "Protesters angry about Ron DeSantis's new bill ambushed the governer outside of his home, covered him in hot tar, dumped feathers on him, paraded him around town on the hood of a car past the city hall, beat him with sticks, demanded he curse the Republican party, threatened to cut off his ears, and then made him drink tea until he vomited. Then they took him back home." And then somebody does a twee political cartoon about it making fun of the guy who got his ass beat like that.

Sounds fucking crazy, right? Well they did that to a guy. They did that to several guys. Thats some sadistic shit. And yet somehow, it paid off for us

It worked out because Europe decided that they wanted Britain to get humbled and helped America

though hes entitled to do what he wants with his money
That's not even his money

Those are not death threats (even if - granted - they look a bit like ones) but the cries of frustrated stupid people

People can be stupid. And there is not side for this. But don't worry, I'm talking also with those guys.
...and stupid, frustrated people can resort to death threats

Bu....but these poor soldiers and officials were just doing their job to feed their families. 😭😭
How could these evil, selfish leftist anarchists be in the right?😭😭😭
The poor little building has feelings too, you know???😭😭😭😭
These raging commies even committed animal abuse!?!?!😭😭😭😭😭
What did the poor geese and chickens do to deserve their feathers being torn out of their skin😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
And so much wasted tea for nothing, shouldn't good citizens show respect for food and the workers that produced it?😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Riots and revolutions are very bad for us‼️‼️
I'd say let's do nothing while unbridled raging capitalism ravages our societies and instead numb ourselves with drugs, alcohol and entertainment media!!!

Yeah Tbh France like many countries got a huge amount of people of foreign origin getting sucked into criminality due to poverty and bad socio-economic conditions. They grew up disillusioned environment.
The one's that rioting are just gangs and street thugs. They clearly don't represent the struggle of a minority as they would value property.

The root of the issues is simply unresolvable as there's limit what a government can do , and the hatred is only intensifying .
Meaning the riots is only reinforces the stereotypes in the eye's of French Government and public

So there will be riots here and there and we will see France increasingly authoritarian and more brutal in suppressing riots.
It's alll counter productive in many ways.

This part makes no sense

This really doesn't make sense right ? Because you just said "we have to push further, they're scared but not of the rioters, they're scared of the cops". Are you like pro-police-state now ?
They’re neither scared of the rioters nor the police. The riots don't affect them for the moment. And the police works with the government and it will work with the next one just like they work with the previous one.

Can you stop with these empty posts devoid of any real statement?
Fuck off

It’s easy to hate rioters, I’m no big fan of them either. But when you have riots in your country, it means something. It’s a symptom of a greater underlying issue. When there is chaos, people willing to take advantage of it will come out in droves and loot to their heart’s content. I think it’s infinitely more productive to tackle the root of the problem.
