in germany most of such schools were closed a little over a decade ago. now kids with special needs are in regular schools and in regular classes for the most part. from my experience working in schools and knowing alot of regular teachers, this wasnt exactly a good idea, because we dont have enough social workers on top of regular teachers, who arent qualified to properly work with these kids.
depending on how australia plans to do it, it can work pretty well. if they just do it without any concrete plan like what happened in germany, it will be a bummer for all people involved
