It's not unlimited and it's not free.

Like I said, it's almost free and almost unlimited. The point, that you did not get, is to understand that scarcity creates the needs to keep and protect, aboundance creates the absence of care. And water is - in the west in general - an abondant ressource. Which means that you will not protect your sink from fearing thiefs, quite the opposite.

Socialism is the same principle but on a large scale. If we stop creating scarcity (which capitalism is pushing its minion to do), we will create a society where insecurity will not even be a problem.
