This is a major over reaction, zoro had depth from a previous flashback with kuina, oda already stated that he wasnt going to explain it in the story therefore, his family would add 0 depth, if anything it just confirms the relation between him and ryuma
:few:
You know the fandom loves to compare zoro with their fave omg my fave got an arc he cries super relevant best character....sadly they live from that :kayneshrug:

There is no need to compare Zoro and Sanji, they are different character with different characteristic and narrative functions.

Meh, its always been comfort food for me. Same with Marvel. Ive never looked at these mediums as massive gospels in writing or storytelling. Thats not to say One Piece doesnt have "some" peak moments still to this day (they exist), but it definitely has hit lows with me after certain parts of Wano (Kurozumi born to burn, no addressing key plot points set up, waste of certain characters, etc) mainly because it was too long.

The majority of my excitement from the series has always been the 2 Yonko not addressed (Shanks/BB), Admirals, and remaining Shichibukai like Kuma and Mihawk, so I am anticipating what comes next, but not expecting peak tier level storytelling. Even the LT reveals and One Piecr wont reach those expectations after 25+ years of teasing. Merely impossible.

Really in the end it just helps with boredom and depression outside of biking and working out (American Consumerism all the way!)

Oda makes strange decisions.

He'll dedicate 40 chapters to the most mundane adventures of arc-specific side characters no one gives a shit about then cover the backstory of the second most prominent One Piece character in an SBS.

His pacing post-TS is the main issue. It's never been worse. What are these 100+ chapter arcs - of course weekly readers will get bored. And most of the plot points he introduces have zero payoff.

He's built an interesting world but we only see it in rare snippets because Oda is terrible at prioritising what fans are actually interested in. If Luffy's not involved, we don't see it.

Since post-TS started we've been on this train towards Wano and don't get me wrong, the Rooftop was peak One Piece. Wano had some of the best One Piece chapters, but they don't make up for a drawn-out arc with a terrible, terrible ending that contradicts the values One Piece supposedly embodies.

I'm hoping now that we're done with this whole Kaido/BM plotline, Oda can get back on track.

Couldn't have said better myself

Wano arc was peak fiction.
We witnessed O-Tama greatness :finally:
Raizo vs Fukurokujo :queenhear:
Kinemon being split in half and not dying :catlewd:
Luffy literally saying, I wont die even if you kill me :daydream:
Queen plagiarizing Judge's tech (or Oda being creative genius)
We got parallel of Mask on Mask off (flame on, flame off - King) :catpole:
Big Mom went crazy on Page1 and Ulti :catrude:
Kaido awakening was also crazy :bignews:
Big Mom Pirates actively engaged in war and Oda didnt forget about them :fransuper:
Shanks appearance was pre planned and not for Film Red promotion :fullmom:
Yamato was a female, but bathed with men :happinesspunch:

I dont know why fans hate Wano, I absolutely loved it :sanmoji:
@NikaInParis @BleakAsh @Shimotsuki Ghostly @lee33
I thought Nikainparis loved One Piece and doesn't like it when people bash it lol.

Wano exposed Loda, specifically the raid. Zoro haters lying to themselves after this SBS and pretending otherwise, cause Zoro taking Ls is more important to them than an actual good arc with solid fights and narratives
Its not about zoro taking L's! Its never about zoro taking L's. Its about zoro fans taking the Ls.

And the worst and most invasive side characters in the manga history.
Herein-lies the issue, Oda chooses to focus on story threads that are not interesting or won't get the audience emotionally engaged with the characters. For instance, Oda wastes countless pages on Brownbeard in Punk Hazard instead of focusing on more likable characters like Smoker and Tashigi. Imho, the problems started during PH with Law being too prevalent to the story at the expense of Luffy and the crew. I would not mind if Law and Kidd get permanently taken out of the story because of Blackbeard and Shanks so we can let the main characters alongside Smoker, and Tashigi shine for the conclusion.

Same with Wano, he focuses way too many panels on the Scabbards or Yamato screaming Oden, and Carrot not really having an impact apart from being cute. They are more like gimmicks rather than fully realized humans. None of them really challenge or flesh out the main characters in interesting ways. For instance, the extended scene between Nami and Tashigi is really good because both characters are breaking grounds and learning that not everything is white and black. Its a good callback to the Arlong arc, and its possibly the future wives of Luffy and Zoro meeting + respecting each other which is really fitting.

On the positive, Oda taking a break after Wano to flesh out the finale was a good decision because I have enjoyed Egghead a lot more than most of the time skip arcs because it remains largely focused and true to part 1's formula. Gee I wonder if someone in Oda's staff read my suggestions after Wano's end.

I am liking the set up of Garp possibly meeting his end because of Blackbeard, and Vegapunk suggesting that there are good Marines within the WG I really hope Oda takes his time to flesh out Smoker and Tashigi. I am skeptical and optimistic at the same time.

Other than Wano, I don’t see any bad standouts. The standard/common arc has always been around the same quality, some of y’all just grew up hard. Egghead’s one of the most exciting arcs so far because of the new pacing.
Stop looking at prets with nostalgia glasses, if you analyze the arcs, you’ll notice the general level of writing from Oda hasn’t changed in post-ts. Post-ts only looks a lot worse to some of y’all because your brain starts to notice his writing patterns resulting in burnout from reading his manga. That is the issue in long stories, either the story declines hard or doesn’t really improve that much which would also be perceived as a negative.

True, the current pacing is much better, except I am still mad at Oda for not showing Revolutionary Army's first fight.
And no update about Sabo.
Regardless, I am still enjoying current arc.
