They DON'T criticize them, but that is beyond the point.
My point is very simple. Personality-wise and character-wise Luffy and Zoro are most similar among all OP characters.
- They are highly determined about their goals (Luffy has the tendency to say it more often)
- They consider their goals to be something worth giving up their life for.
- They both don't wanna be heroes because it prevents them from enjoying what they love
- They can't be seduced by women, power or money.
- They can't manage to follow other people's plans and tend to mess them up.
Even minor things are similar such as their poor navigational skills, or hard-headed nature.
The big difference between the two is that Luffy is always cheerful and Zoro is not. So, it makes no sense to say Luffy is a bad character.
I will
not get behind the sentiment shown by some here. Luffy is a great character. But if you want some great depth, neither Luffy nor Zoro are good enough. Which doesn't matter to me at all. I love both and I will continue to love both.
