General & Others How would you make Luffy a better character?

Appearence wise
- Make it look like he grew after the timeskip. Instead of looking shorter than his pre timeskip self.
- Make him look older instead of looking younger. This goes for Chopper as well.
Personality wise
- I just want pre timeskip Luffy back. This power hungry crazy dude is not my Luffy. Luffy fights to protect his friends and save people. Not fight to literally get stronger and stronger. The fact that he abandoned his friends just so he can get stronger with Katakuri. Was so dumb. Without plot....Big Mom would've killed them. Its like he learnt nothing from Marineford....and completely forgot how strong Top Tiers are. But dont worry Oda will nerf them of course
Fighting wise
- I loved how pre timeskip ( specifically EB) he used to use new techniques in defeating his opponents. Specifically contorting himself and using his elastic powers. Now he uses his DF to make himself stronger and his final moves have been watered down to more powerful versions Gomu pistol/bazooka/gatlling.

It is ironic and hypocrisy coming from a guy who likes Sanji who literally abandoned his crew and captain not once but twice in the same arc once for a girl and once to bake a cake...yeah.....if you want to blame Luffy, then blame Sanji first....also, when Luffy was captured did any SH give a damn about him??....in the first place WCI happened because of Sanji

My point is very simple. Personality-wise and character-wise Luffy and Zoro are most similar among all OP characters.
The big difference between the two is that Luffy is always cheerful and Zoro is not. So, it makes no sense to say Luffy is a bad character.
I will not get behind the sentiment shown by some here. Luffy is a great character. But if you want some great depth, neither Luffy nor Zoro are good enough. Which doesn't matter to me at all. I love both and I will continue to love both.

- They are highly determined about their goals (Luffy has the tendency to say it more often)
- They consider their goals to be something worth giving up their life for.
- They both don't wanna be heroes because it prevents them from enjoying what they love
- They can't be seduced by women, power or money.
- They can't manage to follow other people's plans and tend to mess them up.

Sanji is hated because he is weak and doesnt get as much combat shine as Luffy. No one hates because of his personality unlike Luffy. If Sanji got as much combat shine as he did pre timeskip....Luffy would be the only one hated.

and Luffy got hated in the bunch of forums which is tiny part of fandom so it counts to nothing
Luffy's screentime didn't change pre and post-timeskip. The reason it seems more visible now is the fact that Oda post-timeskip decided to involve more the notion of alliance, with the alliances sharing the time Oda usually used for the Strawhats, with the split of the crew in half happening in between dressrosa and WCI not helping either.
Sooner or later, the main character will start to gain more responsibilities to try to reach the top. In Luffy's case, it started since his defeat to Aokiji in Long Ring Long arc. It's at that moment he realized, he couldn't continue to joke around if he wanted to protect his friends and thus was the birth of this new inspiration of trying to become stronger than everyone.
Ace's loss in Marineford almost made him quit piracy because he felt he was too weak. It makes sense then that he is trying to get stronger and stronger to overcome his enemies. With that said, i agree Oda executed the build-up into the Luffy vs Katakuri battle very poorly. He should have found a better reason leading to that fight than simply abandoning the Strawhats even after the Katakuri danger was already locked in the mirror world

Whenever people want to hate a character, they bring up pre-timeskip bullshit. I have heard this countless times from Zoro haters too, "Zoro was good pre-timeskip and only reduced to badass one liners after timeskip"
Luffy is probably the only strawhat whose role, panel time, wank remained consistent after timeskip
