Is Zoro a well written character? (For OP Standards)

Zoro just like the rest of the SHs suffers from ''too much Luffy''
He didn't get enough panel time
Didn't get many fight
Was separated from the rest for a long time ( if the SHs get separated again after Wano I Will stop Op that I've been following for 18years now)

The real problem post-ts is the ''over-Luffying''; that goes for all the SHs imo.

It does help to define the areas Zoro is lacking in. Maybe not a full "fix" for Zoro, but the lack of development he's received all time skip is a recurring comment.
I think it's to a point. I'd rather Zoro not become a different character. I like him the way he is. But I digress.

Not entirely Zoro exclusive, but I wished Oda could flesh out his personal dream and growth. Right now, some fans don't think too highly on it, and it's clear Oda wants it to be seen in a grand light, however, he doesn't give that much insight on how Mihawk compares to other swordsmen, lack of how other swordsmen perceive the title, and little in the way of competition against other swordsman. His improvements are very broad and not as freshly laid out as Luffy's, for example. There shouldn't be this much debate over Zoro's strength and what he's capable of this far into Post timeskip. The fact we don't even know what inspired him to be the WSS this late in the game is also alarming.

Tbh i do think and hope this arc fleshes out zoro as a character and goes more in depth to who he is and why he stands for the things he does

Hopefully through all the samurai things zoro is connected to it helps
Like ebisu town and yasu connecting to him smiling more and hopefully coming off more charismatic
Also i hope the orochi plot line helps build him
He obviously has a connection to wano and ryuma along with the shimotuski in general too and it'll hopefully be insightful tho im scared zoro is gonna say a badass oneliner on how he doesn't care

I really want tashigi to come to wano as well because i think itll help both of them grow more as characters

I hate how Oda is forming Zoro to be a serious, thick, sulky character and etc ... He is like sasuke (before the final fight against naruto) or like a Mihawk 2.0.

He needs more charisma, cool interactions and comedic moments, Oda doesn't seem to see Zoro as a tool for these things, the only thing that Zoro serves is to make slogans and big fight poses.

I think Zoro's charisma is still there-- just look at Yasu's reaction to him, plus Hyori and Toko cuddling up to sleep with him. We've had a few glimpses of aniki Zoro with Tama, too. We've also had people comment about his aura, and he sensed something was off with Kiku. I don't feel like his character has changed that much. It's more that he just hasn't been in the spotlight. He's had a couple of gags too with the "don't throw the scabbard" and him eating poisoned food.

But honestly, there could be a lot more Zoro in Wano, especially since he's the main sword character in OP (sorry, Mihawk!). I want to know more about his wandering ronin time in Wano, and I felt like his reunion with Sanji was a little anticlimactic. It would have been cool to have the scene where Hitetsu talked to him about Wado drawn out a little more or to more closely parallel the scene from the Loguetown sword shop. I'd like to see him hanging out with the crew more too.

But also, we last saw him at this point, right?

Oda has a lot planned for Wano Zoro, so I still have hope. Swordboy, in the land of swordsmen, with a new sword, a dragon, and a little brother character who also has a sword??? Yeah, Zoro is going to get some development. (But he could have had more!)

Unfortunately, Zoro has suffered the same problem as some of the other Strawhats in that he isn't getting quite as much focus as he used to. I will say I do like pre-timeskip Zoro a little more than his current self, but again I think it's down to screen time. He not really changed that much in personality and motivations. Zoro is Zoro: strong, independent and a total idiot at times like Luffy. Wano if anything has been a nice return to form for him.

If we get some more history on Zoro this arc, I'll be glad. From my perspective he seems one of the least developed Strawhats. We don't know who his parents are, where he was born or even why he is so ridiculously competitive even from a young age. Plenty of room for more character development, and I hope Oda takes us in that direction soon.

Zoro is obviously a good character. He beat even Luffy in some demo polls despite having a lot less screen time and focus and we all know he is the most popular character in this site. Also about him here I think it is right to say that tjere is a good portion of the forum that likes him, another good portion that likes him a bit or is at least neutral towards him and a small minority who doesn't like him at all (some hardcore Sanji fans). Just look at the poll here: 18 good, 6 decent but not the best, 2 bad.

To make him better I would first of all give him more panel time taking it from Luffy, take some more to give to Sanji and the other SH too (and from the other arc characters too). What we fans miss are the ibteractions between the SH we had pre time skip, now the SH have taken the role of almost background characters, Zoro is still getting plenty of panel time in this arc and a bit Sanji too but if you think about Usopp or Franky, Brook.. What have they done this arc? I recall just the Enel faces and that is way too less, why can't we get another arc like Alabasta or Thriller bark where there were at least a lot of fight time for every SH.

Considering majority of OP characters act like some clowns. The retarded Luffy who seems to be even more stupid than how he was before timeskip, Miss Fanservice who regressed from Cat Burglar into Scaredy Cat, Mr. Ruining Any Tension with his cowardy gag, Mr. Prince who regressed into Little Princess in distress, Regressed Dependable Small Ally that is eager to know the world more into cute mascot and another scaredy cat, Miss NPC, Background Cyborg that used to be cooler, and Brook.
Then yes Zoro is a good character by Shitty Hats standard.

How to make him a better character?
1. Make him express more emotion like being angry at Orochi, annoyed at Sanji, care to Chopper etc.
I find post TS Zoro more boring than how he used to be pre TS but at least apparently his old charm somewhat returned during Wano arc.
2. His one liners used to be funny like "I have a message. You're fired" now it sounds too cocky like "8 seas 9 planets there is nothing that I can't cut" bs. And combination of cocky and dumb when calling Hyozo as a frog in the well. Cocky because by that point, Zoro is still a small fish compared to top dogs in OP verse (unlike Mihawk who was already WSS when calling EB Zoro as frog). And dumb because Hyozo is not a frog fishman (will be funnier if Hyozo was actually frog fishman instead of octopus).

His gag direction is actually still prety funny, so no need to change that. I still got entertained when Zoro couldn't tell the difference of "up" and "north" in Dressrosa arc.
But his idiot gag (the only 1 that can't tell the meaning of 3D2Y among the crew) was not necessary and made him look overly dumb.

I'll make him eat a Failed Smile DF
Lol

But joking aside, the reason I like Zoro a lot more (pre-timeskip) is that he used to show more of his inner self, from laughs and cries, Being in amazed about something.
Although he was always edgy character, always acting badass, immovable, Oda still managed to get that side out of him (pre-timeskip). While now, it's hard to get any kind of inner reaction out of him.

I know you're using Sanji as an example and all, to contrast their treatments by Oda in certain respects. But could you keep that to a minimum? Not to say you're trying to start anything, but that's a powder keg ready to go off under the best cases.

I do agree on the fights issue. Luffy has gotten 2 extreme fights that helped to define his character. Zoro's received 1 fight that really didn't push him to grow, because he was so severely nerfed during the interaction. Zoro should've gotten something by now, it's been like 400 chapters into the time skip and over 500 since he's had a challenging fight.
Well I dont know who to use. Luffy and Sanji are the best to compare with Zoro, because the M3 in general get special pottayal in comparison to the rest of the crew. Luffy is harder to use at times since he has more moments than Sanji.

Well...Zoro is good like any other SH excluding Robin (Oda literally wasting her)......

People stop crying on Luffy screen time.....it didn't magically increase......it is just stupid of Oda for neglecting other SH.....

So if there are many interactions between SH instead of with other characters and give other SH best fights instead of side characters.....voila.....we will be back to good old OP.....
