General & Others I thought Luffy was going to 1v1 Kaido what happened?

You can't win

The first time they fought, Luffy was one shotted without knowing advanced conqueror haki. This time that when he learned advanced conqueror haki, despite fighting him well for 24minutes+ according to Momonosuke, Oda decided to off-panel Kaido's victory

This is most likely because he is reserving the reason for later. This fight then is just an opportunity for Oda to gradually show Kaido's strength until Luffy will reach the level enough to overcome him at his full strength

In a similar case to the Luffy vs Crocodile scenario in Alabasta

And we know how it ended

Except that unlike in Crocodile's case, where a good reason for this obstacle was the fact he was a logia, Kaido is actually stronger than Luffy with Oda taking his time to reveal more and more aspect of Kaido's strength

------------

The fact that Oda is building Kaido's "1 on 1" hype is pretty telling in itself

Zoro and Sanji believing Luffy would win constrasting to Yamato's who knows his father and his 1 on 1 hype

All that with Kaido himself knowing he'd come back, with him claiming people will still falsely believe he can win are just setup points for the moment when Luffy will come back to fight him again

With the struggle on that way just helping to confirm Kaido's hype, why Oda himself was questioning himself how Luffy could win, all that to portray Kaido as some kind of close to impossible obstacle to overcome for him right now for a satisfying moment when we'd overcome Kaido's full strength in a 1 on 1

The fact that he needs Yamato's help even though Kaido took countless named attacks from the scabbards and the supernova (who were protecting Luffy when he ran out of gear 4 and when he was unconscious) + a scar on his body shows he is way weaker than him some people thought he was on par with hybrid Kaido lol more like base Kaido > Luffy

And he will, the story dimends it.
Before we start, I wanna warn everyone to not take this thread too seriously. This is just a thread for discussion, I'm not claiming anything here, just an observation that I wanna put out there for discussion. So, without further ado, let's get into it.

Crocodile was Luffy's first opponent who was vastly more powerful than Luffy, Crocodile was the first opponent against whom Luffy needed three rounds to be able to defeat him. Not before or after Alabasta, Luffy never required three rounds to defeat his opponent, it happened only against Crocodile and only in Alabasta. Well, until now... So I've been talking about this for quite some time already, actually I've been saying this since Kaido oneshoted Luffy.
My idea, is that Luffy vs Kaido has the same structure or battle sequence as Luffy vs Crocodile; the reason being, is that Kaido is the second opponent after Crocodile who is vastly more powerful than Luffy.

Here's the actual battle sequence/structure in Alabasta:

  1. Luffy meets Crocodile and Crocodile absolutely destroys him.
  2. Luffy finds a way to damage Crocodile but ultimately still loses to him.
  3. Luffy recovers and defeats Crocodile in the third round.

Now, let's see what happened in Wano compared to Alabasta.

Luffy meets Kaido and Kaido absolutely destroys him–just like in Alabasta–Kaido even says something similar to what Croc said to Luffy after defeating him.

Luffy found a way to damage Kaido but he might still lose to Kaido because of his DF awakening–just like in Alabasta.

Crocodile used something very similar to a DF awakening, he's able to turn his surroundings into sand–just like Doffy and Katakuri. Crocodile also knows a lot about DF abilities and he was the one who said about DF awakening in Impel Down.

So, based on this sequence, Luffy and Kaido will have an equally matched 1v1 but Kaido will still defeat Luffy because he has a DF awakening. Then, Luffy and Kaido both will recover from their injuries and will have a proper 1vs1 in the Wano capital, where the Wano people can witness Kaido's fall.

Just like in Alabasta...

  • Update after chapter 1013
So, as I've predicted, Luffy once again lost to Kaido...

Just like in the fight against Crocodile.
As I've already mentioned this in the beginning of this thread, I believe and at this point I'm certain, that Luffy vs Kaido has the same battle sequence as Luffy vs Crocodile in Alabasta.

After Luffy lost to Crocodile once again, Luffy couldn't move because of his old injuries, so Luffy took a NAP and recovered from his injuries, while Croc recovered from his injuries. Then...

Luffy and Croc had a clean pure 1v1 in which Luffy defeated Crocodile. Crocodile was shocked that no matter how much he tried to kill Luffy, Luffy eventually bounced back just like a rubber ball–that's the point of Luffy's character. No matter what you do, no matter how hard you hit Luffy, no matter how much you try to kill him, Luffy will eventually bounce back.

Luffy will come back to fight Kaido again, and that round will be the last and decisive battle between Luffy and Kaido. Luffy will defeat Kiado in 1v1 and potentially become the next WSC. I wanna point out that Kaido must be defeated before Onigashima reaches Wano, or at the very least before it reaches to the flower capital. Onigashima will not land on Wano, Kaido must be defeated before that, just like in other arcs with running bomb or birdcage cage in Dressrosa.

Why do people act like this is new?

Luffy already loses to Kaido 3 times just like how Luffy loses to Crocodile 3 times.

Crocodile

And then the next thing we know......

He lost to him because he was dealing with a logia user and nobody teamed up against him or called him the strongest by the way he lost 4 times to Kaido he was unconscious Law and Zoro protected him or maybe 5 Kaido literally ate him
Kaido still didn't show his awakening and Yamato is on her way

Man the weelky reading is melting those guys brains ahahahH

Anyone who read the manga and have minimal cognitive capability will remember that its always like that, Luffy fight many times against the final boss, anyone who was thinking that Luffy would beat Kaido in this round and the arc would end, have not read the last 1000 chapters.

Crazy how in the last years the OP community have been flooded with idiots that cant handle the weekly chaperts and want hyped chapters every week.

in a nutshell... luffy gon hop back and whoop some tuna

Crocodile

And then the next thing we know......

away from this topic, it pains me to see Crocodile is that more effecient than Kaido
It's why no one will come across like Crocoboy again

By effecient I mean in all the Luffy defeats, it really looked DEADLY and as if Luffy is dying from those attacks

While in Kaido's case, he looks fine but unconscious... hardly the same intensity!

Crocodile moments feels just more threatening than a freaking Yonko... which is why I'm saying "it pains me"

Like Literally, Crocodile in all 3 cases:

1- Luffy getting impaled from one side, gets to another side

2- getting dehydrated from all water in his body

3- Getting poisoned!

While Kaido follpws the same pattern:
A knocking attack but not deadly, and he then proceeds EVEN now saying he made a mistake by not slaying Luffy and taking his head off as a proof of victory.

people make too much of crocodile's second victory, it lasted less than a minute (long enough for the barrel to fall on him). in many ways he is no different to magellan & caesar clown, work around the hax ability and victory is assured (not magella of course, but the point still stand).
there is no work around for Kaido's physical superiority. luffy need help, period.

Luffy will end up soloing him though in last round, if you're not preparing yourself for that, you're in for a big upset

Good points, only difference is Luffy had massive help the 2nd time and still lost. So he might still need help the 3rd time. I think Luffy will KO him, but he awakened so he will keep getting up.
