Speculations If Luffy gets KO by Kaido again (4th time), should Zoro become the captain instead?

Should Zoro take over then?

This post is purely speculative, and is not meant to make fun of luffy.
Truth is, he has been made fun of plentifully lately.
From a charismatic perspective, Luffy is still a better captain at leading and winning people's heart (friends or foes).
But at some point, you gotta wonder how many L's are too many for the future PK captain before his fighting ability will be questioned.

Maybe the fate of the future pirate king is not only to lose to Kaido the 4th time, but to lose to his role to the vice-captain πŸ™„
I think the fight proves luffy is not there yet perhaps because kaido is literally strongest .

His intro of none winning against him just really backs up luffy is too early . He barely won against kata month into his journey it would seem lame and weird he becomes yonko level in a few weeks.

He is still around Marco's level and there are admiral level fighters who ca challenge luffy to high diff . Way to early to take on someone like kaido.

However I think kaido will be plot kaied at some point in story giving advantage to MC. I do feel tag team has decent chance in beating kaido.

Law, kid, killer and zoro will come back that's how it will end.

why do people think Zoro would fare better, oda as already showed us what Zoro could do, his strongest move against kaido did minimal damage.
Luffy did minimal dmg to Kaido as far as we can see, and that is after getting two power-ups since his first KO.

I am not saying zoro will do better, but I am saying if your leader got son'ed by another leader 4 times in one arc, you gotta start question about the intelligence and strength of your leader.

You brought up some good points.
1) I also agree he is around marco level in strength, which is only very slightly higher than zoro imo. So his strength has been questioned, especially because after adv CoC basically everyone thinks he is at least admiral level.

2) Perhaps the thing that is more concerning is Luffy's intellect. Repeatedly KO'ed by the same enemy multiple times in such a short duration is a sign of not learning your lesson. The way he lost also matters. He has done minimal damage to Kaido, despite 2 power-ups. I kind of wish Zoro gets two power-ups, and see what he can do against Kaido instead.

Does Zoro really need to get KO'd by Kaido 10 times himself in order to prove similarly unworthy?
Kaido is literally the strongest creature in the world and Luffy has been, by far, the person sticking their neck out most in their fight with him.
You may as well say: "All of the present strawhats have done horribly against the beast pirates. That must mean that Vivi is actually the strongest straw hat currently!"
Swords have advantage over fists. I dont think fist fights are lethal definitely zoro and law will play huge role in kaido's demise.
Even if that was the case, killing a defeated opponent doesn't make Zoro more powerful or a better fit for captain than Luffy is. It just means that he has a better tool for a specific job.

My goodness
I’ve never seen this amount of hate on Luffy for any previous arc!
It’s like Zoro fandom are releasing their anger for the death of ZKK and all of their frustration on Luffy by calling out Luffy with all kind of names for losing some rounds against the arc enemy which always happens before Lol
Your frustration is understandable.
Personally I like Luffy as the MC, and I think the majority of the readers do as well.
As a zoro fan, suppose if zoro got KO'ed 3 times by Kaido without any significant damage done to Kaido, I would be first to clown zoro's ass.
Ridiculous outcomes warrant for ridiculous memes.

I have wondered about how much Zoro would tolerate if Luffy wasnt able to pull his own weight.
There are hints through the New World about a potential argument between Zoro and Luffy.
However, whether Oda will ever make something of it or not, is unclear, probably not.
I dont think Zoro would take over the captain spot despite saying it in FMI, he would rather leave the crew.

I doubt he will lose again (4th time).
I'd be very very disappointed if it were to happen again.
I also doubt he will lose but it's a bit frustrating after that big talk to see him fall out of Onigashima with white eyes.
Although I stayed on my opinion that Kaido used his strongest asset against him and that Luffy will have to surpass that once he comes back.

Oda has clearly showed that that gap between powerful captains and their first-mates (think doff & pica, BM & katakuri and kaido & king) is huge.
However, as wano progresses, we are surely noticing that the gap between luffy and zoro isn't that big at all.
That becomes a match-up nightmare imo, as zoro can easily solo and handle the firstmate, but Luffy would need a lot of help dealing with the captain.

Honestly my issue is less with luffy getting beaten a 3rd time, but the fact that he isn't able to deal a lot of damages to Kaido even with ryuo and adv CoC. Like, if luffy fell off the island, but Kaido also was super exhausted and had bruises everywhere, then it would be an outcome that I can accept with.

He was tired. And luffy's attacks that landed did good damage.
Luffy has been saying his attacks worked, eventually Kaido will have the effect of all of them by the end. He has his limits too.

Let me rephrase my thoughts. Luffy did decent damage, but it certainly seem like Kaido can keep fighting for a long time.

The issue i have with saying that luffy's current punches would have an after-effect on Kaido later on is that there would be no way for us to know if these "after damages" truly came from Luffy. They could be from the 9 scabbards, zoro, or law.
