If Luffy 1v1's Kaido right now that just means Kaido is currently one of the weakest top tiers instead of the strongest.

What would be the tension if Luffy can defeat the strongest character in the vers ein a 1v1 this early? How would we have an interesting fight if all admirals, including Akainu where weaker than Kaido? Theres still at least 2 arcs to end the manga, and theres no way Luffy wont need to face even stronger foes.
