General & Others Is Zoro the vice-captain or close? Is he Lufy's right-hand man?

I'm not saying Luffy is a carbon copy of Roger. Both of them are their own person, but aspects of Roger's life do mirror Luffy's. Zoro is not Rayleigh's duplicate, but they serve as the right-hand men to the Pirate Kings. The strongest under their captains, Roger meeting Rayleigh was clearly meant to show how similar his start was to Luffy's. I don't think a scar and swordsmanship on their own show parallelism, but they do color the symbolism I described.

My rule with parallels is "what's the symbolism?" Without standing before Luffy in the PK throne, Law and Kid can't be Whitebeard's "parallel."

Luffy need not to surpass Roger in strength and Zoro and Sanji neither has to surpass the 2nd and 3rd of Roger crew. They can be as strong as them and they have "allies" which Roger didn't have on his side.

No its luffy's CREW not allies. Luffy's crew can't be stronger than roger's if his tops aren't stronger than roger's. If luffys crew is to surpass roger and him do what roger couldn't as pk his crew needs to be better than rogers.

Zoro and Rayleigh were even introduced in the same way - they were voluntarily imprisoned (although for different reasons).

When WB died, BB was able to crush the WB remnants. Replace WB with Roger, would BB dominate the Roger remnants? The answer is no. Why? Because of Rayleigh who is an anomaly.

WB, like Kaido and BM, are in an entirely different level than their commanders/first mates. None of their subordinates can compete with them. If BM or Kaido died, BB can swoop in and crush the remnants. He cant do that to Rayleigh.

Once again, Rayleigh was an anomaly. His strength and reputation can compete with his own captain and recently it was implied Beckman is the same for Shanks. Beckman and Rayleigh shadow their respective captains. This is what Zoro is.....he is Luffy's right hand man, shadow and first mate. Luffy dies and Zoro can still compete with the Emperors.

However, unlike Roger and Shanks who has 1 anomaly, Luffy has 2 and the 2nd one is Sanji. Sanji is the left hand man and advisor, which is still under Zoro. Fitting that they will surpass the Roger pirates. There more anomalies the better....Jinbe is probably one too....

judging how the fanbase treats mihawk , I am afraid rayleigh's implied connection to zoro would cause the fanbase to belittle him and I certainly do not want that.
zoro is the first mate of the future pk and wss . end of story . whether its ray's parallel or not doesnt matter .

That's a huge reach based on a title that was no relation to being the strongest fighter. Kaido recieved WSC while WB was regarded as the WSM. Letting us know straight up WSM has nothing to do with being the strongest fighter. Unless Whitebeard was playing catchup with Kaido?

Everybody and their mothers were playing catchup to Roger. (Can add in Garp if you want).

When two people get highlighted as individuals who put the beating on the top pirate of the era + WB + Shiki +BM and more.. it's fairly clear who Oda is trying to put at the top of the hierarchy.

Characters don't need to look like carbon copies for them to be parallels and you can't just pick up random characterstics to force parallels b/w characters. A second in command isn't someone who gets to order people around in a crew after the captain. It's the person who has what it takes to take his captains place whenever the captain isn't in a position to fullfill his role. That's what Rayleigh was to Roger and that is what Zoro is to Luffy. If Luffy does indeep parallel Roger, then there is noway Rayleigh isn't Zoro's parallel.

Characters can have multiple parallels or counterparts in One Piece.
