Character Discussion Kaido vs Big Mom

Which of the two was the better villain? Kaido during the Wano arc or Big Mom during the WCI arc?
Until Wedding Cake thing>Big Mom
But in general I take Kaido over her.

Who had the better backstory?
Clearly Big Mom and it is not even close.

Who had the better crew?
Again Big Mom, her crew was special and unique, first-time we saw the strawhats needing to escape because they been to weak.
Kaido crew is not even close to what we got with Linlin crew.

Which fight do you think was more better: Luffy vs Kaido or Kid and Law vs Big Mom?
Kaido vs Luffy and it not even close.
Kaido give me the feeling what it was like to see a top tier fighting.
Truly deserved to be called a Yonkou.

Big Mom in opposite feelt so lackluster and boring, nothing that made me said"wow".
She didn´t even had awakening and didn´t show any adv CoC attacks even thought she had it.
Big Mom vs Kid and Law was boring...

And finally who had the better conclusion during their defeat?
I would again take Kaido over Big Mom here.

Big Mom the better character and villain with the better backstory and the better and stronger crew.
That said Kaido is better in anything combat related, and had the much better fight and conclusion. Though outside the bombs, Big Mom cursing Roger and wondering what the One Piece I quite liked.

Big Mom was written better, had the more interesting backstory and better crew but the way she was handled as a fighter was shit with Oda handicaping, nerfing and clowning her to a nauseatous degree, as part of some of Oda's very worst writing, despite all the potential she had as a fighter.

Kaido had better portrayal in battle, even if he was plot handicaped, dumbed and nerfed himself to a much lesser degree; but his writing in terms of personality, motives and backstory was severely lacking. His crew was underdevelopped and written as well, with the crew's backstory, as well as the dynamics of the crew even between Kaido and the Calamities being strongly missing, Kaido didn't even had a real interaction with Queen.

Both of their "fights" at Onigashima were dogshit writing and very unsatisfying though Kaido vs Luffy wasn't as horrible as BM vs Law and Kidd.

How is this even a question? Big Mom and her island was an ode to European folklore. Everything about the arc is about her dictatorship and abuse of the island, even going back to her devil fruit power. Kaido has no character. One second he wants to die, but half of the time he clearly doesn't. He wants to fight an epic battle but runs from Shanks, refuses to rematch Oden in a fair fight and basically never leaves his island ever(after WB died, the remaining WB pirates had a war with Blackbeard, Big Mom took fishmen island. Kaido recruited X drake, a literal spy. Aside from that, he did nothing during the timeskip). Based on the writing, and the fact that he had zero interest in asking Oden on anything that he knew about Laughtale, it seems that Kaido truly had zero goal or ambition in life other then selling seastones to the world government. This wasn't even his original idea, it was Higurashis. This is also true for the entire regime of Wano, At the end of the day, it was made in Orochis image. Nothing to do with the flower capitol or Ebisu town relates to Kaido. Orochi did actually spend 28 years building Wano in his image, where he made his political allies and persecuted his enemies. Kaido just spend those decades beating up who Orochi wanted him to beat up while he took out his resentment on Oden out on his only daughter because she read his book.

Big Mom was definetly a better character, the problem is that she was victim of Oda's bad writing during Wano

About who was a better main villain i go with Big Mom cause she was more methodical and insightful than Kaido. She manipulated the Judge by targeting his clone army.

About backstory, Big Mom by far. I understand Oda didn't show much of Kaido's past, probably because he's tied with Rocks Pirates, but i still don't understand a lot of things about Kaido. Why he was depressed? Why did he choose Wano? Why does he treat Yamato so badly?

About better crew, i think BMPs has more personallity and and its hierarchy is better developed. I think Oda overthought the Beast Pirates as opponents of the SHs and forgot the rest.

Kidd and Law vs Big Mom were better in my opinion.

I already said that i think Big Mom in Wano was a mistake but answering your final question: Both had an unsatisfactory conclusion in my opinion, despite for some reason Oda hinting that Big Mom might return.

In short: Big Mom overrall

I would need to reread WCI and Wano to elabore more, but for now, that's all

Who do you think was the better character?
God.... Kaido is effectively Jiren with a few quirks. Linlin's character has actual mental retardation built into her alongside being all over the place.

It's so far in the dirt, whoever's the winner isn't saying much.
Which of the two was the better villain? Kaido during the Wano arc or Big Mom during the WCI arc?
Katakuri was the villain of WCI, Linlin was a plot device. So automatically Kaido but he'd be underwhelming for a relatively short arc like Skypeia, let alone OP's biggest arc ever and antagonist to a 400 chapter saga.
Who had the better backstory?
Linlin, even if it doesn't benefit her character to be tricked and lied to her whole childhood life. Since it never comes up ever again.
Who had the better crew?
In terms of what?

In terms of strength, Kaido.
In terms of writing, Linlin.

Jack got nothing all Wano, Queen got some decent development and King didn't get spotlight on him until his last 15 chapters.
The Tobi Roppo were largely introduced and defeated within the span of 20 chapters, in a climate that really didn't let us get to know them.

In contrast, Tottoland chewed the fat with the Charlotte Family and we got to see much more of their family dynamic and the way the larger crew operates around them.

Which fight do you think was more better: Luffy vs Kaido or Kid and Law vs Big Mom?
Luffy versus Kaido is easily better. Kid and Law v. Linlin is not worth the reread.
And finally who had the better conclusion during their defeat?
Linlin's was better executed, Kaido's on paper is better though.

More finality in his defeat, especially with how Oda made sure to include the King/Kaido conversation in #1036 and did a call back to that during Kaido's defeat. Kaido also went down one chapter after Orochi, so it was a bit more thematically solid.

1. Big Mom had the better character which was also butchered the most. She at least had a solid base with very real motivations we got to see.

2. Kaido was the better villain. Big Mom didn’t feel like a villain in WCI, Judge felt like more of the villain

3. Big Mom Easy.

4. Kaidos crew was better imo. Big Moms crew had Kata and Pero doing heavy heavy lifting. King Queen and Jack were way better and the tobi roppo although defeated poorly were entertaining themselves

5. Luffy vs Kaido actually had a fight instead of a show off of abilities

6. Kaido. Big Moms defeat was bad.

2. Kaido was the better villain. Big Mom didn’t feel like a villain in WCI, Judge felt like more of the villain
Judge was only a villain towards Sanji, Big Mom on the other hand was a villain towards Luffy, Sanji, and the entire Vinsmoke Family.

Big Mom was actually a decent villain during the first half of the WCI arc, her role as a villain only goes downhill during the second half of the arc.

Big Mom was the one that had Pudding lure Luffy and the others to WCI itself, had Brulee lure Luffy and the others inside the seducing woods, sent Cracker to deal with Luffy, sent the enraged army to defeat Luffy and Nami and capture them.

Through Tamago she is the one that gave Judge the exploding handcuffs to be used on Sanji, she is the one that told Judge about Zeff, and she is the one that planned the whole Vinsmoke massacre plot.

Overall both Kaido and Big Mom were terrible villains, but Kaido imo was just way more lackluster.

Imo I would even say that Orochi and Queen were better villains than Kaido.

The reason I say judge is because the arc ended with Luffy confronting judge as well. Genuinely I’m trying to remember how many times Luffy and Big Mom actually interacted and all I can think about is a phone call and once at the tea party.

Big mom felt more like a force of nature, she didn’t feel like a villain at all imo and especially when the arc didn’t even really revolve around her as much as it did Sanji which is why judge felt like more of the villain in the arc.

Using stuff that happened because of her doesn’t make her the villain, greater threat? Yes absolutely but ultimately she herself never felt like the villain cause she herself never personally did much of anything. It’s like asking who was the villain of Ennies Lobby? Lucci or Spandam.

Big mom is by far the better character

Her arc was better, her presence in wano elevated Kaido's arc

She has a more flushed out and compelling back story, Kaido was just the side character in other people's back stories the bits of pieces of kaido lore we do get is the same info just rehashed and big moms crew has a great and interesting dynamic with a ton of great a memorable characters

Perospero, Katakuri, Pekoms, Tamago. Cracker, Oprea, Amande,

Tho Kaido vs Luffy was the better fighter, because it felt like Luffy earned that win he grew and got stronger over the course of that fight, he pushed his limits and surpassed them, yes he had help during the course of the fight but you can't say he didn't grow to the point of being able to win 1v1 (ext dif) if it came to it

Meanwhile Law v Kidd that win didn't feel earned, it didn't feel like they pushed past their limits it was a win of convenience many domino's lying up perfectly which is why after Wano we saw Luffy strong enough to fight off 5 gorosei and an admiral meanwhile Law and Kid who didn't grow got crushed by the other Yonko

Big mom did have the better defeat speech

Kaido was just ahhhh dead

Big mom's words gave the possibility that she could survive and come back but also doesn't guarantee it Schrodingers Big Mom

BM is a better character overall

Kaido is much better thematically speaking.

Kaido is a better villain

BM had way more potential and it was squandered

Kaido went out way better

BM had the way better backstory

Crew is pretty subjective, but BM's crew is way more unique and creative.

BM has better backstory. Kaido takes all other rounds for me especially combat and fights and conclusion.

BM is considered weakest yonko and weakest top tier for huge majority for a reason.
