If Kidd is as weak as you think he is, he should never have the opportunity to fight Luffy right?
I literally said this : If you read only what you want, i can't really do anything but i guess i should have been more clear : Kidd is far from being on Luffy's lvl and will never reach him.

Luffy clashed with Lucci, Apoo and many gifters too, so are they equal or comparable ?! So if it's a minor clash, then even today the weakest of weakest fodders are still fighting with Luffy or any others SHP in One Piece so no need to bet for something silly like that. Because it literally happened, happens and will happen with Oda.
But if you are so sure that Kidd is still super strong, important, rival of Luffy or gonna play a huge role whatever then you shouldn't be afraid to bet for a clash like Kizaru vs Luffy where they were fighting on equal ground or Kaido vs Luffy, a real fight with a winner.

It cannot be excluded if a friend of Luffy is in Kidd's way. Even if the respect between the two is obvious, after Onigashima, Kidd would probably not hesitate to put Luffy's life (of Luffy's friends life, more importantly) in danger if it's necessary for his goals.

Hes hard headed like Luffy. When Kaido first landed, he was the first person to fight Kaido. Even though the likelyhood of him winning was non existent.
We know Kidd has been targeting Shanks even before he lost his arm. And we know Luffy shares a good relationship with Shanks, Dorry and Broggy. Kidd has wanted to take down Shanks, while Luffy has viewed him as someone to admire.
What is going to happen when Kidd learns of Luffy's relationship to Shanks?

As I said before. Kidd has no idea about Luffy's relationship with Shanks and Luffy doesn't as well. If they do fight, Kidd will start the fight. And of course personalities will play a role (Both characters are stubborn, have undying wills and will go into fights even if its likely they'll lose). However, that won't be the main reason. As ive stated numerous times on the fight the catalyst, will be shanks and the giants.
