Luffy faced the 3 OG Admirals head on without fear at MF, Kizaru was there and Shaboady already happened before this.

I'm looking at this as Oda's last chances of giving Kizaru some great spotlights 'cause he might actually go down this arc. We had a glimpse of his backstory too, and we might have more on later chapters.

At Marineford, Luffy had nothing to lose.. His crew were all scattered over the world..

I know Luffy is fearless and ready to fight anybody on his own.. But he got a mental breakdown for not
being able to protect his friend and that's what it's about..

I'm trying to give a reasonable explanation for his pretty severe reaction.. Mind you he's with his crew again and
Kizaru shows up in front of him beaming of lights..
