Hey guys, I'm back! Not going to waste my time arguing with delusional fanatics anymore though. Yamato vs Carrot has been done to death, and it was over like 30 chapters ago. I'm here to talk about Law, Drake, Tama, Vivi, and whoever else hasn't been circlejerked for the better part of a year, what comes after Wano, and otherwise just have fun and shit post.
Welcome back! I hope you're in a good place in life right now.

This thread has officially gone full circle and went back to how it was before.

It's not as easy as that, IMO. Yamato expressed over and over that she wants to do what Oden didn't manage to do for Wano and Momo's argument about what's gonna happen to the country if it opens his borders a few chapters ago wasn't something totally out of field, he did have a point. Luffy, Yamato and Momo are all equally involved in saving Wano's future, Momo's already aware that Luffy won't be at his side anymore but he needs to hear the same from Yamato too. It's a matter of respect IMO, in 1043 we see that Yamato basically speaks to Momo like someone on her level
I still believe its up to Yamato and the tough love is further proving that he trust Momo to develop.

I can't deny what you said. Momo does play a part. Maybe it doesn't get complicated with Yamato deciding that Momo needs him.

Carrot>Tama=Yamato

Tama has spent more time with the crew and Luffy remembers her name.
Carrot actually knows her way around the Sunny.
Yamato came out obvious, but then keep finding his way back to his son. Even said his fellow Retainer Shinobu brought tears to his eyes.
This could be Yamato and 1 of the other Straw Hats outside of Luffy, but Oda hasn't cared for that recently
I bet Yamato will go up to fight alongside the Straw Hats vs Kaido similar to how Brook helped in the first round vs Oars

Oda needed time to established a relationship between Momo and Yamato in order to reach a moment where both characters grow. Momo migh've just had his in the latest chapter, Yamato will probable have theirs when they see Momo be Oden 2.0
He threw salt on it by purposely missing Straw Hats. They were in the same panels.

Even Franky is like who is that and Oda is like "not now, Retainer duty"

Yamato being chained again to Wano but to Momo this time almost proves Kaido right IMO. I don't think Oda's gonna do that, Yamato is not another Vivi
I feel like a good scene that Oda can write addressing the situation is Yamato basically admitting her heart speaks freedom but her mind instead sees what Momo meant by protecting the country, and Momo basically being OK with letting Yamato go (think of like the ending of post EL with Franky's family telling Franky that they don't need him anymore and they can take care of themselves fine)

Kinda off topic, but I consider Vivi a SH whether on the ship or not.

Anyway, I agree with that possibility, but a little less Momo involvement. There's been enough of that. Momo will always be Yamato's son whether apart or not and Momo understand dad wants to be free.

If you want more of my 2 cents and if Yamato joins the SHs, I also think she's definitely gonna promise Momo to come back for him after she had her adventure

I think that's just build up. Oda cannot have Yamato act like she's surely joining the crew then have her hang out with the Straw Hats, it would be too damn obvious.
Franky spent a massive amount of time with Usopp and Sanji. I don't see the harm if Yamato spent just 4 pages getting acquainted with 1.

So it's not "too damn obvious" to have Yamao state she wants to join right out of the blue in her introduction... but it would be too obvious to have Yamao form meaningful connections with actual straw hats?
:rolaugh:

Well right now we're discussing it right? If Yamato stated "I'll join your crew" then hung out with the Straw Hats we wouldn't be here talking about Carrot or Tama or anybody else.

By Yamato stating she'll join, she clearly positions herself as a favorite by virtue of actively pursuing the position, but Oda tries to keep her away from the crew to keep the discussion going

You're missing my point.

Yamao says she's joining the crew - "Therefore Yamao is joining the crew. She said it herself!!"
Yamao spends practically zero time with any straw hats - "It's a trap! Oda's just trying to mislead us!"
Yamao spends all her time with Momo and Wano characters - "An even more elaborate trap!!! He doesn't want it to be obvious that she's joining!"

...That's what you sound like right now lmaooo. Do you not see how crazy that is?

1. That's not a wild conclusion to arrive to.
2. Again, Oda likes to have people talk about his manga. It's not about misleading but instead keeping the conversation open.
3. I said this has more to do with the fact that Momo and Yamato are two characters who's dads were rivals yet they picked up traits from one another's parent. Oda clearly wants Momo and Yamato to learn from one another, and I think that ultimately leads to them going on their own separate paths.

Kinda funny that now the misleading argument is a bad one considering that's all Carrot fans had been talking about since Yamato was introduced
