I loved the Wii, I have so many fond memories of it and of games such as SSBB, Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel, Super Paper Mario, Mario Party 8, etc...
The Wii was great, so many great games like the ones you mentioned, the menu itself was really nice as well, if you had the original wii you could also play gamecube games.

And it also had the Wii Shop Channel in which you could buy and play classic Nintendo games.

Ah yes the menu and it's unique music, as well as the Mii chanel, so many memories.
Though I didn't manage to do that last part, my Wii had a connection problem, though I did plenty of that with my Switch.

There was no love for the Wii U during its era but now with its era gone, suddenly people love the Wii U now.
I don't even get the love of the Wii U.
Like, it was so far behind the other consoles, at least its hardware was comparable to the previous era of the consoles like PS3 and Xbox360. Meanwhile, Sony was even busy developing PS4 Pro which had 4K.

The Wii U had nothing interesting. I don't even understand what was Nintendo thinking naming their new console like that. I'm sure many people thought it's just some modified version of the Wii and that's why they didn't buy it. However, even if this had a better marketing, the competition was just too strong back then.

They sold something about 143 million units worldwide and iirc, the Switch reached the second place of the best sales in terms of consoles. Even the Gameboy was surpassed.
Sold Units do not defy quality. The switch is the worst console of the last gen. Bad design on handheld and cheap material construction. I had to fix my switch 2 times while my xbox and my ps4 are still running.

Sure, but it objectively skyrocket Nintendo's profits from the sheer numbers of sales. I wasn't really talking about quality because like you said, the Switch had cheap material construction and there were always issues with the Joy-Cons. There is also the fact that we didn't get multimedia content and the online service was bad as well in comparison to the competition.

That's why I said "Switch was the best thing happening to Nintendo" and not "to us".

In spite of all that I still like the Switch.

Sue me.

Yeah switch showed innovative consoles do still have a market in the modern day, and that if they don’t want to compete with PlayStation and XBox, they have a solid niche market they have almost no competition in.

Now they just need to learn on how to make it a bit more durable and less janky.

I wouldn't call the switch user base "niche"

Portability and versatility (including the ability to charge on the go) is crucial it seems in this era.

You see this trend in the rise of mobile gaming and the number of people absolutely hooked into playing it, as well as the number of handheld Switch-like gaming PCs that end up getting released (and somehow not get sued by Nintendo for copying design of the Switch) and somehow, they have similar capabilities as upper-mid range laptops.

The end of a stay-home console era is slowly dawning upon us gamers. *prayers*
