Current Events No Deaths in MY Onigashima Raid?!?!

#1
For some, a familiar outcry:

Wah wah why Kin’emon no die?

Wah wah why Kaido no actually kill people?

Wah wah why Oda never kill characters I don’t care about?

I have news for you guys, just like your vegan cousins wedding at a Texas Roadhouse , this arc has no stakes.

So it looks like a considerable number of you guys are besides yourself with the recent (yet obvious) revelation that characters do not die in One Piece.

How could this be? You ask yourself.

This raid is supposed to have the highest of stakes!! You proclaim.

This is such poor writing on Oda’s part, the Scabbards should be torn limb from limb to justify the might of Kaido!! You assert.

Despite what your degrees from the School of Super Ultra Advanced Manga Writing might tell you that death is tantamount to portraying the severity of the Raid on Onigashima, a little bit of common sense and context would beg to differ. And when I say a little bit, I mean just a wee tiny bit of it.

The answer to why no named supporting characters or major characters will perish in the raid is simple:

There wouldn’t be a party afterwards.

Luffy is not going to get his groove on after burying Kin’emon or any of the Scabbards for that matter, but especially Kin’emon.

Honestly, it’s that simple. The end of arc party needs to happen and thus Luffy and the others can not suffer an emotional loss that will deter them from getting jiggy with it.

You guys are looking for a tragedy when you should be looking for your dancing shoes cause it’s almost party time!!!

Damn, imagine people actually expecting a "war" to be good in terms of having some tension or stakes.

Wow imagine after 1000+ chapters thinking that a war in One Piece would feature the death of major characters for no reason other than tension. It’s like you guys get off on setting yourself up for disappointment.

Wait…. do you? If so, teach me your kink.

I dont hate that when Oda doesnt kills a character and saying that we are in fighting with an emperor is just stupid like we fight Warlords so someone has to do die from Alabasta.

I mean if the author wants to use the character then fine. However i am NOT FINE when Oda brings a supposed dead certain character with his nonsense logic just for a fake tension. Some one needs to tell Oda that when you bring a character from dead it just doesnt destroy your fake tension it also destroys reader's excitement too. Because reader knows when next time same thing happens you will bring a character back.

Like Oda cuts Kinemon in half just to say Oh no Law dono didnt fixed me. This is not good story writing its just nonsense.

The thing is.
In flashbacks Oda is fine with making two kids watch as their Mother is shot in the face, a bunch of people dying to a poison, people almost starving to death, some bandit being shot at point blank.
BUT GOD FORBID if he does something remotely close to this on a non-flashback scene.
Fucking Kid crucified people already.
Yonkos dont fight each other because of the costs on their forces.
Now we know no one dies. Why shouldn't we believe that the yonkos are all just pussies?
Why should any Reader be impressed by Kaido's supposed Immortality, if everyone on this raid is immortal as well?
Didnt Oda fucking kill Yasuie?
Now suddenly everyone is fucking Highlander? (Except Orochi. Orochi is beyond that lmao)

I don't care if they don't die in the raid, but I would just like if characters like Kanjuro were at least properly knocked out and non factors for the rest of the raid after they get taken down.
We do not need filler scenes of the scabbards anymore, the pirates should be nearing the conclusion of their fights.

For me the problem is not people surviving, it's them being brought back constantly DURING the Raid itself. Like this is the third time or so Kanjuro comes back to do some shit with his powers, and the second the scabbards need to be healed back after fighting Kaidou. It makes sense if a character gets knocked out and is only brought back after the arc is over, during the party, but "reviving" them constantly while the arc is still ongoing just cheapens the moments where they're taken down.
You don't need death for stakes, just the idea that someone actually being knocked out means something for the rest of the arc.

Too many inconsistencies, the Kanjuro plot looked forced considering what he managed to endure, but am not surprised either cause Oda indeed despises death that much. 🤔
