Even the famous databooks or Novels you guys like quoting doesn't say Mihawk is netter at swordmanship than Shanks, they were even!

Yeah, Griffon prob is, especially if we think that was Roger's blade. Either that, or Roger's blade was left in Laugh Tale or with Rayleigh for safe keeping.

It's mostly Oda's fault. We should know shit like this by now. But assuming Shanks is not considered for this title. Mihawk beat the previous WSS or maybe even his final PVP against Shanks was the moment he attained the title.

But as with most of the things in this damn manga that are foreshadowed, we might never know this. But considering Mihawk is the one to hold this title it's safe to assume he is the best, isn't it?

Yes. Mihawk holds the Title, He is considered to be the World's Strongest Swordsman. But I've learned to never believe these "absolutes" in manga's.

Jozu is not a swordsman. Shanks has other powers, so mihawk can still be WSS and not beat Shanks from 12 years before at the same time.

That also proves Shanks has other powers, other than being a swordsman.

No. Mihawk stated Shanks wasn't his equal and in general the title was not shared which is by far the most important and consistent proof.

And I don't believe in other styles making a difference. No reason to. As long as a character is a swordsman they are embroiled into the title matter and subjected to Mihawk's superiority.

In fact, he does, that's one of the most important characteristics of Mihawk. He's able to evaluate people.

He was able to see Zoro's will, determination and potential back in Baratie.

During Marineford, he tested Luffy, and said that even tho he isn't as strong now, his greatest power was how he could make people around him turn into allies.

He also tried to evaluate Whitebeards power, but Jozu interfered.

Mihawk is very observant, in fact he was suposed to be called The Clairvoyant.

That's just Haki at work. All the Top Tiers should be able to do the same.
Mihawk just had the showing is all.

The Manga told us different. There's no reason to assume that Garp had less credit in defeating Rocks than Roger did.
