If this isn't Kanjuro drawing and THIS IS ACTUALLY ODEN , this will go down as the worst thing Oda has ever done in One Piece for me ... Oden's "death" was unmatched in terms of hype

to bring him back , you literally invalidate all what happened in the flashback and most importantly render the Scabbards EVEN MORE WORTHLESS than they are right now

Hyougoro is an old shit thats not apart from New Gen. And his hype is nearly defeating a floor filled with fodder.

He doesn't have a connection with King. Saving Momo didn't create a connection with King. Everyone is there to help Momo.

He has a connection to Queen through his father. It doesn't matter if he likes his father, science or technology. He still his father's son and still a Vinsmoke. He's even using his father's technology, RS. Even Sanji is willing to acknowledge and accept that.

Hyogoro might have taken out a bunch of fodder he still defeated the largest amount faster anybody. That includes the alliance top fighters. He impressed two supernovas and we were told the strength he displayed is part of the reason the world fears samurais. That's a huge amount of hype he received whether people want to acknowledge it or not. Even Queen tried to take him out when he was distracted because he saw him that much of a threat.

At first, I thought the same too but I feel like I'll be fine with it as long as he's here on borrowed time and not permanently. Yes, his death was the best and the coolest one out of all but I think this can be fun as long as Oda manages to explain it. I'm interested in the character interactions that would happen and will also clear off some headcanons, powerlevel-wise. Though yes, it still feels cheap tbh.

I love hyogoro's admiration for Luffy so much. He considers himself his sensei and evokes memories of him on the verge of death. He's confident that his disciple is the one who will defeat Kaido and save the whole country. From his point of view, training Luffy was his greatest achievement.
