It makes more sense that it affects him negatively because he was perfectly fine fighting against queen until now, you cannot prove its not hurting him and thats makes more sense.

Yeah they're just coping HARD. Not really surprising since the other explanation is Sanji being not strong enough pre powerup to give Queen a good fight before he got put down.

Unless the manga confirms that Sanji was infact hard nerfed by the awakening's effects setting in pre awakening.
