Nobody seems to actually care about Mihawk in OP world, way too passive.
Zoro is the only character in the series shown with actual desire to surpass him, in the country of Samurai he wasn't even mentioned, truth is Mihawk is as boring as he can get as a character.

It was about Roger but knowing history and that Shanks is basically Roger of this gen of the Yonkou we suspect that the hype is targeted to him.

Both Mihawk and Shanks are both the current only haki top tiers, both swordsman and a history of ruthless fights.

Yes i believe they ultimately specialise in different areas but in the end both have the highest Haki game

but if roger had no df the obvious secret to his strength lies in his willpower.

a comparison that rings closer to his protege who like him isnt after the great swordsman title, does not have a black blade, said to have an overwhelming willpower and is said to currently be the freest person on the seas. Not mihawk.

While Mihawk also cares about nobody in the world. He reigns supreme among the swordsmen, being a lone wolf who doesn't engage in the politics of the Yonko.

Also, why would the country of Samurai mention Mihawk? They are an isolated country with their own set of problems, having prepared for war against Kaido. Have you seen them mentioning Shanks? Shanks only appeared in Kaido's vision among those people in history which he faced, that are capable of taking him on.

So since when is will power a fighting style? Of course Roger has tremendous will power, but he channels it through his blade in form of his Hakis. He even named his son after his blade to reference how it's his blade that makes him dominate his opponents. As we learned, even Haoshoku (the power to dominate one's will) can coat blades.
