Because haki lets you come into physical contact with logias, so the Gura Gura would hurt Akainu
But Luffy is made of rubber. He's not a logia. A hit from the Gura, even with haki, would just make him harmlessly vibrate

Haki works against his rubber body too, that's how haki was beating him down with blunt force, and how rayleigh with blunt force harmed Luffy using haki.

She was irrelevant in this raid. If not for Kid or Law she would be reduced to O-Lin plot again.

Nothing suggests they are equal. Kaido doesn't even see her on the pedestal he has Oden, Shanks and etc.

- Kaido fought the 9 scabbards, 5 SN(including Kid and Law) who were more focused on Kaido, a stronger Luffy than the one who was fighting with the other SN, Yamato, an even stronger Luffy with mastered Adcoc and was still fighting ready

- Big Mom attacked 5 SN who were more focused on Kaido and ultimately lost to Kid and Law(with bomb plot) and the only difference between rooftop Kid and Law and current Kid and Law being their awakening

That was until Big Mom was defeated

Then his opponent(Luffy) got even stronger, awakening his fruit

While Kaido got even more feats:
- Powered states in drunk mode
- More adcoc control
- Future sight
- Island scale power and lethality in his dragon-magma state

Featwise Big Mom struggles to push Kaido to mid diff

BM powerup got fulgora and used bigger mom mode
Feats wise kaido didn't fight anyone that can hurt BM except Luffy , yamato and Zoro
None of the people kaido fought will push bm past mid diff coz they can't even hurt her

It is a damn shame the whole fandom is really on drugs these days

That depends if Luffy can escape the gravity when he tries to grab him. I'm also sure his zoan will be broken, if he has one

To me Big Mom never learned to fight properly (maybe because she a natural born monster), she has the raw power but don't use correctly. Now idk if Oda did it on purpose or that just bad writing from him.

He clearly says there it hurts tho, and that's Luffy as an awakened zoan as gorosei noted he becomes overall stronger like those jailer beasts that are more resilient.

Before that what happened when Kaido was smacking Luffy out of G4 almost.

And in awakening in many instances he is getting harmed by his haki attacks still, less than G4 but point stands

BM lost to yonko level Law, it’s not her fault

Law couldn't KO her even for 5 seconds

Law and kid can't beat her 2v1 unless they have nukes or someone else helping them.

BM never lost the fight to them like kaido lost to Luffy

The five characters that Kaido say aren't meant to be his top 5 strongest and we know this to be true because
1. Mihawk wasn't there
2. Shanks is implied to be weaker than Kaido and Big Mom because he has a lower bounty than them (and yes, bounties are meant to be a soft-powerlevel system)

My point is that Kaido was barely causing any significant damage to Gear 5 Luffy. Kaido himself even says later on that Luffy's real weakness is cutting attacks
But anyway, I do think that with BB's fascination with fate that it would just make the most sense for him to steal Luffy's fruit
