Oda not killing major characters other than in flashbacks isn't a new thing. You would think people would know by now. It has been what, like 20 years since Pell?
He'll only kill off characters if their death has a heavy influence on the future of the story (see Ace/Whitebeard)

I just wanna say, that Luffy decided to punch a celestial dragon in the face and immediately his crew paid the price and they would've been obliterated right then and there if it wasn't for Kuma conveniently being an ally.

Something tells me if there any chance to save/free Ginny that didn’t jeopardize the entire revolutionary mission Dragon would’ve done it. Luffy invaded enies lobby for his nakama, past his prime Garp rolled into a yonko territory to save his protege, people think Dragon doesn’t have that will and trait to save those he cares for? Dragon will definitely have a moment be it with Saturn or another high ranking officer where he just assaults them channeling his rage and resentment for his failure to save his comrades

Dragon will be use as hype tool
This is not a complete justification but it’s likely that he didn’t have a complete grasp of the situation, he can storm Mary Geoise but at the cost of losing everything at once. That is not a smart thing to do, not for the cause he’s fighting for. Remember, in Dragon’s POV, the RA is the only faction directly fighting against the WG. All hope is lost if they die early in the game because they acted out on their feelings.
