yeah he went during the time of the reverie where odds were in his favor to make a move alongside of having all 4 commanders with him while having all the intel to pull it off, he basically launched a Yonko level attack on Mariejois in an opportunistic time and barely escaped with his life... not to mention one of those admirals was assisting them and we've been shown admirals aint all that.
Dragon with kuma and iva wouldve been enough if they actually knew where she was....

Garp invaded a yonko's home turf (without knowing if blackbeard is there or not) practically solo to rescue his protege, and wouldve done it for the others too
Drag-on is literally, absolutely clueless and is too busy doing JACKSHIT to care about his commanders. I doubt even current Kuma would've been free if not for Sabo actually being pissed that his friend is enslaved.

Also, they never planned for saving Kuma - they saw Kuma being used as a slave and saved him in addition to declaring War on the Nobles, which was their original motive.
