It just occurred to me that Shanks is basically a more mature version of Kid
Shanks is honestly just as brutal as Kid is, destroying enemy ships when they have already surrendered or are running away.
The only difference is that Shanks is at least smart about the people he kills. He doesn’t do it needlessly or wantonly.
But Shanks is still incredibly brutal. I don’t think we’ve seen Kaido or BM outright destroy their enemies the way Shanks does. Both Kaido and BM try to get their enemies to join their crew. As evidence by Apoo, Hawkins, Drake, and Bege. But Shanks just straight up tries to murder his opps.

Lafitte will be an nimble, fast fighter and use fencing/stabs mostly I imagine like Brook too, this such an insanely good matchup and Brook needs a really personal and actual long, difficult fight too!

My ideal scenario?
A fleshed out Mihawk vs Sengoku to give him elite feats and a victim, to give Mihawk his full flowers have him body Sengoku mid-high diff at worst. Then Shiryu somehow kills Mihawk, doesn't have to be fully onscreen to hide Shiryu's new awakened abilities or df, then Zoro vs Shiryu becomes so much heavier
Even though I fuck with Mihawk, this adds so much more intensity to the story over a student fighting his mentor in the middle of the world ending lol. And it would also cement BBP as final villains.
Thing is it's a pipe dream given Shiryu's Hachinosu portrayal, he isn't being portrayed like he is gonna be taking down someone like Mihawk.
