I still don't understand why Luffy wants to free Loki. Ok I got it he seems to know Shanks but it's obvious he's lying or at least seems like he is lying. I mean Luffy knows that he will eventually meet him, why do he needs Loki.

Maybe Luffy is using this excuse just because he doesn't like to see Loki chained up and thinks he could be "good" guy even if every giants are against that.

I don't know, it feels a little forced.

Seems just a thing set up from Oda to free Loki and do things.

I basically think you could. Shanks is known for partying and generally protecting his territories,I don't think he adventures as much as luffy. Shanks spent a year stationed on luffys hometown for example. Again, luffy hasn't even tried visiting shanks territory yet or anything,but suddenly he will release loki? Does he even have proof loki knows anything.
