Kaido is a character that only values strength. If 4/5 of the characters in the silhouette were above him Shanks must've been too.

I think it’s because these five had the strongest haki Kaido ever faced. Remember Kaidos ideals were about “Haki conquering all” as such he believed these five had the highest ceiling because they had the strongest haki hence why he said it as a way of wondering if Luffy could hit this level after Luffy showcased a new haki ability.

Barring the fact that you think G5 ACoC Luffy and base Luffy with ACoC would have a relative performance against Kaido because he was very weakened by then which is straight up crazy.

Lets say a hypothetical where Kaido was fresh and decided to fight at the same level of power he was fighting G5 ACoC Luffy in the later stages of the fight with 1010 Luffy. How does it go.

I think Luffy was fighting a weaker Kaido and wasn’t fresh himself, we literally see him on his last legs try to restart himself

drunk Kaido is his peak form, the Kaido who fought G5 aside from flaming bagua was Kaido on his last legs

I legit believe that Kaido probably loses to the rooftop 5 if he doesn’t use flaming bagua

Those are not mutually exclusive you know. They were less relevant the stronger foes he fought, the issue isnt the damage he accumulate its the stamina being depleted over time. He was literally holding an island that required an immense amount of stamina to keep moving and holding while fighting. When your stamina reaches 0 you lose no matter the amount of damage you took.

I have high hopes for them. I can feel a different atmosphere when they’re in focus. The storyline could be peak writing when they finally move since the stakes will naturally be at its highest against the World Government. Some of them might even die, they don’t have the SHs plot armor. Dragon’s backstory could be peak emotional drama right next to Kuma too.
