Calling him a partner worthy of Itachi, his favorite character, is probably the best for me. That and "Tailless Tailed Beast" just emphasizes what a monster this guy was.

Chakra is mental energy fused with physical energy (stamina) to create chakra.

Haki as far as I know is only physical energy.

Even if we ignore that Kisame has a crazy healing factor and can probably survive unless Hidan hits him in the head, Kisame simply outscales Hidan way too much. He could keep up with V2 Bee, and even just Base Bee was overwhelming Hebi Sasuke

I'm taking it from a meta perspective of, Kishimoto really respects Kisame and is making the audience recognize this.

I def wish we got more from Itachi than "So Kisame's dead, eh?". But at the same time, Itachi pre-death was an ego maniac. He thought he could mind control Sasuke into being good, not only that it'd work but it was the best option for Sasuke. So I kinda get it, Itachi's a little preoccupied and fucked in the head.
