20 years in the future, the world is probably gonna experience "a giant war" that can split the sea. Which means that, in 20 years, the main character of "the giant war" will come into the new world, the one that can defeat Kaido will be them.

Oden probably wanted to hold untill the joyboy appears in wano. Yes! But if he failed, he put Joyboy as the backup plan. That was his backup when he ultimately decided to face Kaido.

I don't see it as back plan which he thought of earlier but a last resort before he decided to take action against kaido in fifth year and to leave the matter to fate and by going with destiny and prediction which he does by asking toki to send Momo to future....

Which part of 'They will defeat Kaido' (according to spoiler text) did you not understand? Ofc Luffy will defeat Kaido but not alone.

The part where 'the main character' is singular but 'them' is plural.

The whole translation is iffy. Oda won't say things like 'the main character' or 'peak'. But the point is, I think Oden is referring to Joyboy, and there can't be multiple Joyboys.

They and them can both be singular. If Oden did not know the gender of the person, which is perfectly reasonable, he could use they/them to refer to a singular person. He’s talking about one person, as shown when he mentions “character”, not “characters”.

But the year is off then. Marineford is 18 years from the that time and yet Oden specifies 20 and the Scabbards are sent specifically 20 years
