"Look like shit aesthetically" means what to you, exactly, and according to what standard? Kuma, for example, may look goofy and shitty to many people in comparison to the likes of Mihawk yet his aesthetics are virtually perfect. May I know your specific reasons why whatever Beast Pirate looks better than whatever Big Mom Pirate without going into vague concepts like "goofiness"?

Anyways:

Bobbin's calambur: the elements on his face compose the shape of an owl following his hypnotic powers, which at the same time is a creative usage of metonymy.

Cracker's polysemy: Cracker hides in an armor made of crackers which cracks and reveals a cracked-looking individual with hair like a firecracker.

Daifuku's conceptual analogy: a lamp filled with a genie is analogous to a filled mochi like the daifuku, which also provides round shapes fitting those of a lamp and which appears on Daifuku's artificial-looking anatomy.

Tamago's inspirations and rhetorics: Hercule Poirot, Jubjub bird, etc. appearing as an egg-looking individual with a sophisticated teacup as bowler hat and long legs which rhyme with his cane (the design has too many details to go into them here and now).

Mont-d'Or's irony: based on the scarecrow related to dumbness yet has the book fruit.

Perospero's hyperbole: obviously his long tongue which evokes his personality and powers.
That was a nice read, I was joking around regarding Oda's doodling part. Obviously there are layers and nuances related to designs but from pure aesthetic standpoint which is an entirely subjective matter, I think BMP look like trash.

I am just not a fan of goofy designs no matter how many layers there are to them. But at least designs in Whole Cake Island and Goofyness associated with them is actually relevant to their character traits and lore associated with them while Goofy designs in Wano are goofy just for the sake of being Goofy.

I personally think Kuma's design is amazing, all warlords have great designs really with exception of Moria. Despite his weird proportions his design is still imposing enough for a man of his stature figuratively.

O

Omaiwaa

LOOOOOL it's hilarious each time the BMP try to get into Wano, a flying 1st mate sabotages their chances. Maybe Pell will push them down the waterfall next, or Shiki (Oda did say an old legend is returning).

On a more serious note this looks like it's going to be a really good chapter, can't wait!

You have every right to like their designs better than the Beast Pirates' ones.
That kind of argument is just pure trollery.
When we got Introduced to Jack the Drought, then we Met Cracker INSIDE his bisquit soldier, I had the thought that Oda will make:
- Big Mom Pirate crew design look really bad
- Beast Pirates look really good

What ended up happening for me is:
- I like Kaido design more than Big Mom

- I like Big Mom crew design more than Beast Pirates designs

Lmao, perfect balance

Fair enough. I'm not into the idea of aesthetics being entirely subjective, though (I personally may spent many days trying different aesthetics even in the smallest detail when designing something because I'm aware of the objectivity that lies behind certain shapes, colors, sizes, etc. and how to integrate them with the concept and evocations I'm aiming for); precisely, since you like Kuma, his hyperbolic proportions achieve an aesthetic that reinforces his imposing presence through the permanent impression of looking at him from a low-angle shot; which would be lost if we changed his aesthetics even if they look weird.

Anyways, notice how this interaction has gone from you spamming mocks towards me to a polite and fruitful conversation. This is an honest advice: maybe next time you could try a more productive approach to discussing with another user, because at the end of the day we both enjoyed this dialogue, don't you think?

Perospero's design and name also pay homage to Prospero from William Shakespeare's Tempest. A play whose influence can be found even throughout the WCI arc.
Yep, I omitted many details like that because I didn't want to overload the post (also how Mont-d'Or's colour scheme seem to combine blue cheese with a skeleton, for example). Nice share!

Just cause you done something wrong for years doesnt mean its good.
I'm more into thinking that you're the perfect example of the Dunning-Kruger effect, actually.
