Im a huge zoro fan, but the argument stemmed when I made the point about Zoro being the few SHs to always taking the New World seriously

People are spoiled and think it is beneath Zoro and Luffy to fight Gifters, Numbers, Waiters, Pleasures and what not...
It is an all-out war and to reach the king, you have to go through the soldiers.
The scenario is realistic and people shouldn't complain. Things will develop in unimaginable ways whether we like it or not.
If Oda keeps things realistic, there wont be any 1vs1 at all because such things dont exist on an open battlefield with ~40k warriors.

Well there's a problem with that too.

Zoro himself has said "I was careless" like when he was talking about Gyukimaru jumping him in the killer fight.

If he was really really serious, he would've realised that Gyukimaru wasn't going to sta put forever. He even admits it.

Zoro has his own brand of "serious" such as telling Luffy not to go after Sanji but he also has his own charcater flaws such as getting into shit with the magistrate at the start of wano and the whole Gyukimaru business.

Basically the correct thing is that Zoro TRIES to be serious but he also fails at it a few times
