CoC: Color of Clowns

Give Love. Stop Abuse.
Look Asura was cool as hell last episode but Luffy's no name coc punches are hurting and making kaido fucking terrified lmao. Luffy's just higher you have to accept it.
People misunderstand this dynamic a lot: Zoro is Luffy's Rayleigh. Zoro will never be straight up stronger that Luffy, that's just how the series goes, but he'll always be right behind him. Zoro respects Luffy more than pretty much anyone else besides Kuina. Zoro doesn't chase Emperors or Admirals, he chases Luffy and Mihawk. Oda gives parallels to them all the time.

Kaido dodges Zoro's Flying Dragon Blaze, then Kaido dodges Luffy's Red Hawk
Zoro unlocks uses CoC against Kaido to scar him, then Luffy unlocks CoC fully to beat up Kaido

Luffy's CoC is based more on his feelings/emotions: his first use was at Amazon Lily, to save the Amazons who had helped him, then at Marineford to help Ace, then at Fishman Island to knock out half of the troops.

Zoro's CoC has always been tied to offense and ambition: you could argue his first use was against Daz Bones, though I think it was against Kaku with Asura. Then you have Monet, now Kaido.

Zoro DOES surpass Luffy at times in certain areas, but never overall. Good writing, IMO. I really like how Black Clover has Yuno be on Asta's level/above him: in a series I"m writing, the rival character is generally a bit stronger than the main character. I like that dynamic, since it really challenges the main character to grow.

3/5 Honestly I'd rate it a 4 if they had changed the aura to another color instead of gold. It doesn't fit luffy.
I'd imagine his CoC Haki is gold to signify the Dawn/Straw Hat.

Way too much...

But the Kaido stuff damn menacing asf. If Toei can keep it like that, it would be instant W
Yeah, that black/red heavy section was great to watch. Auras don't even bother me: the current stuff just has too much lighting and effects going on, a lot of the animation is being lost.

Luffy and Zoro are not rivals. Luffy is the undisputed captain of his crew and since Arlong Park made the distinction that his one job in the crew was to be the strongest and take down the strongest threat.

Todays episode has to be the worst animated anime episode I have watched in a long time.
Lol what the fuck was that. I swear I couldn't even see the awesome CoC clashes. I'm actually surprised Law was able to see they were not touching.
Plus the little music/score was terrible. The only redeeming thing about the episode was the familiar uplifting music when Luffy was thanking Zoro and Law for defending him.

TBH this episode was obnoxious. Vied way too far from the source material to overhype Luffy's "aura" and those flower scenes were ridiculous af. Downplayed Zoro and Law to again overhype Luffy and the "aura" flashes could make someone have a frigging seizure. I know the art for the most part is an improvement, but stick to the way Oda told the story and don't take too many liberties, it's off putting. I hope they don't fuck up Monster Robin, but they probably will.

One Piece fans talked hella shit about Demon Slayer yet they eat this flowery shit up :pepecafe:
It's absolutely insane.

Especially since even a half-blind and retarded donkey recognizes the difference in execution in both those anime adaptations.

While Demon Slayer has its fair share of "bombastic animation" moments, it never feels or looks inorganic or too much.

In case of the current OP episodes - where should we start? It has nothing to do with the manga or earlier episodes of the series anymore. The effects are way over the top, all the background is basically unrecognizable and you have to look twice to see wtf they actually intended to show. It's a desaster.

One studio are pros at their peak (Ufotable) and the others just complete amateurs (Toei).

Why you hoping they don't fuck up Robin when they disappoint you here? Lol just dont bother with it and forget the anime

I wrote a thread about my feeling (went more indepth). 82 tweets. took 10 hours. see the good and the bad. my praising, and seething. Excitement, and malding.

Read through the entire thread.

Agree on the sound and the impact of the storyboarding for some of the action scenes, particularly later in the episode. Disagree with everything else to a greater or lesser extent.
