ONE PIECE Live Action - Episodes Discussion Thread

For me the first two episodes were pretty good but the downfall began after that with Baratie being the lowest point. But it redeemed itself a bit in Arlong park and Coco village.

:pepecafe:
Really? I don't think I've heard this take so far (but then again, I haven't heard many real takes because most OP fans on twitter are just hyping it up without saying anything of substance). I thought baratie was decent, what hurt it for me were the narrative liberties they took. Syrup village on the other hand bored me to tears, I cried tears of joy when it was finally over.

Still need to see the last two episodes, but overall the Live Action is good.
Not amazing. Not awful.

The emotional parts from the anime do hit in the show as well, to varying degrees but they don't fall flat.

The dialogue is the biggest hurdle they need to overcome. Followed by the directing (I mostly mean camera angles here). I get rushing the plot, but you gotta let scenes breathe, and to do that you need more set up shots, more shots where the environment reflects thr character's mood, more ambiance lighting, cinematic shots etc.

The second season will deliver on all those fronts for sure. This season was a test drive and, in my layman opinion, they got their money's worth.

Kind of makes me want to write a comprehensive review of this thing but I'm a nobody on here, nobody would care. I'd be putting in all that time and effort just for no one to read it.
Bad argument mate. If you write a full honest review and watched the show people obviously care.

That guy who watched 2 scenes and went to the bathroom crying, well I'd definitely not want to read his review.

Twitter is more like a hivemind. You either are in agreement and get likes or you slightly disagree and get immediately warned and asked to remove your comment.

Good point. I'll try not to make it too wordy.

Watched the last ep Garp was better
Yeah the last episode was Garp's best episode. He sucked the rest of the time outside of a few scenes here and there.

Episode 6,7,8
Things I liked:
  1. Sanji and Zeff backstory was done as perfectly as it could have been. Also they actually went with eating the leg part. Shows Oda really was involved.
  2. Zeff and Garp talking down was a nice addition. It served well to introduce new generation talk.
  3. Buggy was used in a perfect way. His jokes were mostly spot on.
  4. Arlong despite his criticised looks, was genuinely portrayed as a dangerous villain and Luffy actually used tricks to beat him.
  5. Nami backstory was alright but the villagers and Nojiko should have known her true story all along.
  6. Sanji and Zoro’s rivalry was done justice.
  7. Nami and Luffy scene went just as I thought it would in live action. They did it justice.
  8. The final fight despite being short covered all key moments from the manga battle. Luffy getting triggered from the word “use” was perfect.
Things that felt off:
  1. Garp going through all those trouble just to test Luffy. Also he should’ve ended his conversation with Luffy saying since he’s his grandson he’s not going to arrest him here with Bogard correcting him let’s just say they got away.
  2. Nami confronting Arlong after he betrayed her should’ve been added. Really thought she was running towards Arlong park.
  3. Villagers not being present to witness Arlong Park fall.
over all the show is solid 8/10. Like all said, it covers the core of the story and adapted as realistically as it could. There was always gonna be some minor issues. Let’s just hope this story gets continued cause I want this to go through all the way cause there are so many Easter eggs that would be like mind blowing for casual watchers in the year 2030 or beyond.

I just watched a few fight scenes and the last part - where everybody says their goals.
I honestly don't think i will be able to watch the whole thing without dying of cringe...
The acting is not great at all and the fights are terribly choreographed. I have seen fanmade anime fights who were better...
None of the actors sounds like a normal human being, they all talk like cosplayers who try to hard to sound like an anime character....just stop!
And the dialogues are just pure cringe, because they again try to hard to copy the anime, nobody talks like that in the real world, when will those producers finaly understand this? If you are making a real life adaptation, then let them talk like real human beings...

I had very low expectations for this LA and expected it to be pretty bad - sadly i was not proven wrong.
Your post is pure cringe and you're full of shit.
