Questions & Mysteries Overall Did Yonko Commanders meet your expectations or were they a Dissapointment?

Let's go with those shown so far not gonna go over RHP/BBP

- Let's start with Jack the first one who gave us the billion bounty range, a menace at Zou but Oda failed to flesh him out properly at all. Zero on panel indication of him using aby technique or special weapon that indicate his "drought" moniker
- Cracker is next, he too started out as a menace but the way the fight ended was straight up stupid
- Smoothie is on the camp with Jozu, Vista, they are forgotten. At least Jozu and Vista have 2-3 decent moments on panel in MF
- Katakuri was fine, good character, arguably gave one of the best choreographed fights too and was portrayed well as the biggest hindrance after Big Mom in WCI with several comments from Jinbei aluding that and the fact that Luffy even thought he has to fight him says it all
- Queen, good lead up fight for Sanji as a character, but man a shit choreographed fight, which is surprising because Sanji on usual has great choreographed fights in the manga. Sanji vs Judge even had great choreography and it was less than a chapter long
- King, good choregraphed fight (mostly), but there's a lot of problems with him:
- He is Kaido's right hand man, but little did Onigashima raid do him justice in that regard
- His race powers being poorly explained
- The final and most important part of the chapter sucked balls because of those factors
- Marco is fine generally

They are great, but very overrated.

Why?

Well, Luffy before the time skip already could challenge them somehow, their level aint 10 tiers far away Marineford Luffy. Luffy at marineford already had 400 million berries which is an impressive bounty for Veteran pirates.

Luffy already was a Veteran pirate, very strong with no haki, he fought fools like Lucci who was respected by Viceadmirals which already can oppose a threat to commanders.

For what they are, they're fine. Good challenges to the protagonists. I do wish Law/Zoro/Luffy didn't progress so quickly and we could've seen them struggle against more commander level characters, but it's a minor gripe.

Commanders are simple to read.
If they have CoC, they are a bit special.
Else they aint all that.
Ofc circumstances also play a role.

Ace was Destined to be a Top tier.
Kata is a bit special too [CoC, Awakening, Fs].
Rayleigh, Oden, Beckman (will have CoC) & Zoro are Top Tiers.

Shiryu is special because he was equal to a Legendary Warden like Magellan.

That is a good way of looking at it. King , Kata , Cracker looked good where queen and jack didn't in comparison. Marco and jozu were good though.

WB commanders are different case.

Marco, jozu and Ace - all enjoyed decent portrayal. And, none of them were SHs opponent so I don't count them in my perspective

Meet the expectations after all. Their reign lasted for years. First we had Kata and Cracker to a degree in WCI. They proved to be a threat, even somebody like Cracker already gave Luffy quite some problems when when he used G4 vs Doffy he seemed (and was) on another level. Then Kata actually impressed because he had actually the power, skills and abilities of a true YC1 and was the villain of WCI replacing BM (who got shamed but that is a yonko problem). The only problem was that Luffy had plot power in hus side so he litterally get power ups mid fight until he beat Kata. Smoothie on the other hand was bad, the Smoothie vs door meme is famous.

Wano was quite good too but that was already the yonko arc, YCs were obsolete now. King get his space as Zoro rival, interesting power and worthy to be a YC1, Queen was funny and get his hype as well, but in the end he was a Sanji rival so a bit of a joke, nothing strange (hit himself, dino robot and a little weird in general)(but good for sure). Jack was done dirty.

At this point, Egghead onwards, you can expect YC level to be the new veteran level. Si their reign is over but they did not look bad, generally, when they were rocking.

Obviously there some who have been better than others but as a collective did these characters meet your expectations? We've seen 4 in a full fight, clashes and glimpses from others.

Clashing with Mihawk who's > Shanks (a Yonko) is 100x better than what most commanders got

Every single WBP commander held their own/clashed with someone that was at least Admiral level

How many other commanders can say the same?

It does mean that Smoothie was horrible and absolutely irrelevant yea.
Cracker got a bit of a panel time tbh, that's all.

only the yc1, katakuri was great and king/marco though not nearly as fleshed out, were entertaining enough and gave the overall hype feeling of how powerfull a yc1 should be. All the other yonko commanders have just been horrible. Jack, cracker, smoothie and the rest of the bmp just seemed pathetic and had really lame abilities and 0 fighting skill. if i didnt know their ranks id think they were weaker than arlong. Didnt have a powerful presence at all.

Kata is indeed appreciating luffy strength here and we did see boundman destroy cracker biscuit army.

However, was it enough? No... You can call it matchup issue but oda did make cracker put boundman in bind and made luffy go for tank man because bound man wasn't enough to deal with cracker. That's special treatment
