Speculations Pound is still dead

You cant really blame the reader. Oda set it up as Pound getting decapitated.
Lmao no, at this point all the blame goes to the reader. I'm sometimes skeptical if Ace really died and y'all out here talking about Pound lmao. This is One Piece how deep into are we? Blows my mind people expected anything else here, especially considered the attack wasn't even shown. Even the absolute no name fodders in Punk Hazard (who serve no purpose in the future) survived Shinokuni (the Punk Hazard ticking time bomb) after being completely engulfed by it, and you guys are mindblown about Pound lmao.

Nah, I'm not really sure how the reader can be blamed for this. It was 100% setup to be that Pound got killed. We see a whole page of Oven swinging his glaive at Pound's head and there's absolutely no panel where someone came in to save him or any such implication.

Next thing we know, we see a glaive with blood.

I don't remember the exact contents of the chapter but I do recall that Oven moved on after this and never followed up with anything else. What the hell are the readers supposed to believe? Did Oven only just cut his skin and nothing else? Did his attack only knock out Pound unconscious and not kill him? Both are like the only options on the table and they sound retarded. Pound even gave a farewell/last few words speech here.

To believe that Pound didn't get killed there is just preposterous to me. There's only thing a reader could have believed while reading that. At least for me, Pound being alive just wasn't one of them.

I can give you countless examples of situations much much worse/clearer than that with characters surviving. Readers are 100% to blame for being surprised at him being alive, this deep into One Piece.

Well, can't blame the reader to actually expect good writing ...
Unfortunately Oda fails again and again in that department, which is why he can't touch series like Jojo, HxH or Berserk in terms of storywriting.
