Roger became PK after he was gifted 3 PG out of 4 and as regards the fourth, he sneakily stole it rather than conquering it after a open battle.
BTW Luffy's path is harsher than Roger's, he has actually to battle for almost every PG
He was weaker than or equal to Prime Roger, he could never beat him no matter how hard he tried. Prime Non Sick Roger was God Valley Roger 40 years ago- 47 years ago.
The One Piece magazine 9 states that Whitebeard used to clash with Roger and grew to his level 2 years after God Valley.
Xebec was Roger's true equal in fighting strength and as a pirate as well.

WB was 46 at that time.
God Valley was 38y from present. so at 1486
10y before Roger and WB fought.
WB was 36 at that time.
WB during God Valley was still 2y away from becoming prime.

The fact is WB was WSM even while roger was alive and in prime, therefore WB>Roger. Even if its just by a tiny bit, he was still considered the strongest.

Titles are good and all but we are talking about a story where the main guys are straw hats bearers, where COC seems to be the rarest power and the more unique one, where the PK title is the most important thing and the main goal of the MC. No way that WB was superior to Roger. They can be equal or Wb can be 0,1% weaker. Roger was a demon when fighting. This is a shonen, willpower > everything else, and goal of the MC > the rest.
