NGL - that Sanji block was great. From what I can remember we have seen 4 Luffy x Sanji combinations in the entire series.

Luffy x Sanji v Kung Fu Dugongs in Drum Island (Sanji knocked out)
Luffy x Sanji v Satori in Skypiea (Sanji knocked out, came back for final hit)
Luffy x Sanji v Big Mom in WCI (Skirmish with blocks and escape)
Luffy x Sanji v Kizaru in Egghead (To be decided)

Someone in Zoro/Sanji level can definitely fight & damage Kizaru, even if they don't win.

Sanji "losing" is detrimental to the plot. VP is becoming a burden now, and there's actually Saturn too beside Kizaru.

So in case Sanji got taken out, Luffy will have 1vs2, which is impossible due to how earlier Luffy vs Kizaru goes. And VP will die in the middle of a fight, which is anti-climatic.

This page screams " Damn, another Sanji arc". While Luffy and Zoro are worried about Lunarian defense, Sanji gives 0 fucks about a thing.

Nobody can take Luffy's role as the MC, but this isn't about that

Sanji isn't going down, Kizaru has nothing in his arsenal to knock Sanji out. Lasers aren't working, his kicks will be met by other kicks from the legs fighter, his sword can be countered with haki. Kizaru just has speed.
