What makes no sense about this is the fact that Gaban is a well known and legendary pirate.

His bounty is likely 2-3 billion

If it was him everyone would know who it was. Especially if he has some special DF, as Teach literally saw the RP in action.

This is why I defer to it being Imu. Nobody would be able to recognize him outside the CDs. He has a motive to take the poneglyph. And he has a legendary DF.

Gaban is a famous pirate, but he literally looks nothing like how he once did and the Oro Jackson certainly doesn’t look the same.

Sometimes the simplest or obvious explanation just explains it all if you dont think to much about. What ive realized typically is Oda usually makes his twists generally simple to understand because there are so many moving pieces in this story that have to play around it.

This being Scopper just explains why this person can exist and remain so elusive to Yonko and other pirates alike, and how that person knew about the RP at Fishman Island.

Everything hints at it being Gaban imo:
- He has a burn scar so he fits the description

- Only lead we have to the man with the burn scar is that he's currently on Elbaf.
We know outsiders need permission to be allowed to stay on Elbaf, so it's not a place that is easily accessible to anybody so except the man with the burn scar has infiltrated Elbaf like the holy knights did, he's most likely a known presence on Elbaf and as far as we know currently the only outsiders that are currently on Elbaf are Gaban and the SHs, so again he fits the bill here.

- No one seems to know who the man with a burn scar is.
Shanks commented on meeting a friend he thought was dead at the beginning of the arc which in hindsight was most likely referring to Gaban, so if like Shanks the outside world thinks Gaban is dead and he happens to be the man with the burn scar it'd make sense why nobody knows who the fck he is. So Gaban fits here again.

- The man with the burn scar is said to travel in a jet black ship and that anyone that comes close ends up getting cut up in whirlpools and getting sunk
It's speculated that it could be a DF ability but considering Gaban is a navigator and most likely the best in the series atm. He's knowledge of the ocean is something that regular folks probably can't comprehend and a navigator of that calibre is most likely very knowlagable about the sea terrain and should be able to use it to his advantage to sink a ship or two even more so if he's on the Orojackson (i.e. the best ship in the world). Also the fact that the most characteristic ting about the ship is that its jet black in itself is pretty sus, reckon it's probably been made that way so as to not make it recognizable or to conceal it in a way. If the ship is the Orojackon, then it'd make sense why that is the case.

- Lastly, it makes sense for the someone on Roger's side to be holding on to the last Road Poneglyph to make sure that the man Roger and Joyboy are waiting for makes his way to them. Whitebeard for instance has once said that Teach isn't the man Roger is waiting for. Roger himself said that they came to early when they found the ONE PIECE, so there's an expectation that both Roger and Joyboy have for the person who finds the ONE PIECE so it'd make sense that there is some type of filtering/selection going on as there is no guarantee that anyone random person that finds the ONE PIECE would meet that expectation and carry out their will. So again Gaban fits the bill

I think it's a red herring.

Don't really believe a Roger pirate would carry 4th RPG. It has to be an enemy or neutral character.

They’re all retirees

1. didn’t reveal what they learned or really even act on it
2. Didn’t try to save Ace
3. Didn’t try to avenge Oden

Gaban has been chilling on Elbaf with his wife and kid for 20 years. He doesn’t care about who gets the poneglyph

Do you know who was at God Valley and could explain the whole thing to give context on the evil Shanks twin conveniently attacking Elbaf at this moment? Scopper Gaban.

Elbaf may just be the arc that ties everything together before the big climax.

It might also mean that Elbaf will be a short arc like Zou depending on who the Holy Knights bring.

if they bring just one more Holy Knight I can see it being a Zou situation where Loki(taking Momo and Zunisha’s place) assist in defeating the 3 HK.

we’ll get a lore dump, the final RP and a quick climax before moving towards laugh tale

Who gave him that Scar? If Someone can Inflict Injury in that Form, then Gaban isn't necessarily "Only" Victim

Maybe Gaban received that Injury when He tried to Help Giants against Loki, his Warning to SHs about Loki's Threat seems to be based on Experience, so it's possible that Man With Burn Scar is a different Character who also Fought Loki once,

So 90% Chance Oda will just go the obvious way & say Gaban is Man With Burn Scar, but i believe there is 10% Chance He could be Harald.

Shanks knows Zou has a poneglyph but does he have a Vivre card of Inu/Neko? You need that to go to Zou.

Zou RP is the most annoying one to obtain because it is on top of a constantly moving elephant and it cannot be obtained unless you have a Vivre card to go there.

Maybe some fishmen accompanied him to Elbaf.

Like someone has said, he painted it black.

Maybe he was working with Government for some time before joining Roger. His forshadower character Denjiro worked for the bad guys.

I really doubt they will get it for free. Hope Loki stole it from Gaban.

The first 2 just need an explanation on circumstance. A black ship doesnt really matter much to this character, but the Whirlpool could be just his strength or some technique he has too.

The WG thing was just a guess from Shiryu, it doesnt need to actually mean anything.

And Ive explained this before but Scopper giving them the RP would be contingent on Elbaf being saved from Loki or Shamrock's plan. Scopper's family is from Elbaf, so this would make sense if they were "given" it.

I mean, think about the alternatives:

- if its some unknown powerhouse then Oda has to somehow explain that history in yet another arc beyond Elbaf. Meaning we'd be even more years out from a potential climax of a 30+ year story

- If its not some strong person but a weakling, then its not really earned, it just turns into a conflict with Blackbeard or Akainu or someone else, which already would happene regardless of this happening or not.

- It doesnt have to be Scopper, but they also dont have to be evil either, meaning someone could gift the RP to the crew after this arc anyway.

When i think about the above, I would just "rather" it be Scopper because it allows all of these plotlines to come to a close and not drag it out.

Hell, maybe Shamrock finds and seizes the RP from Scopper, boom theres your "earned" aspect of getting it.

Tbh, I dont think it is him. In theory, all that we know about Burn Scar could be tied to Scopper.
But it would all have to make sense while now it doesn't.
He has supposedly lived for 20 years in Elbaf so it is unlikely that he wanders the seas in black ship sinking ppl with DF powers...
