Absolutely yeah. I had to resist going in another mega rant about Oda's ruination of both Big Mom and Kaido. At least this flashback is giving her a bit of love but Kaido needs it too.

I still can't believe how they went out, it's so absurdly dumb and insulting, it doesn't feel real. I really want both of them to come back and be done justice but if they come back, Oda might just ruin them even more. Same with Kidd too.

Law will definitely return ofc but these other 3, I'm really swinging between if they should return or not anymore. Trying to decide which is worse. But i miss them and really want to see them again.

Big mom and kaido are really fun, entertaining characters when Oda lets them be. I expected to see them interact more with Xebec but I loved her teasing of him this chapter hehehe. she would be the most versed in knowing when someone has a baby or babies even on the way ofc.

I wish we could see this version of Big Mom fighting, especially with her homies harmonising with her, like that demonic form she took vs the SHs.

She has some amazing moves with her DF as expected, just like Kaido in dragon form especially.

Imagine going back on time to when we first heard of Kaido or even at least during WCI or when had he that amazing intro and buildup around Dressrosa to Zou? And telling ourselves of the absolute horror, cringe and disappointment to come?

Oda gave Big Mom an amazing backstory but then an apathetic, abridged, phoned in one for Kaido.

I was so excited to see how Kaidos favourite island from the cover stories and such. King got such a lazy, unfinished backstory too. I'm just praying that Oda did this deliberately because he's holding it off for later but idk man. I know it's cope.

I was so fucking hyped for big mom and kaido since Thriller Bark was airing on TV and once again especially after we got into the post TS arcs.

At least they're fun to play in the games. Can't wait to play as King in PW4 in October or so. Enel, Zephyr and King, can't fucking wait. Especially for Zephyr too.

Kaido had some amazing panels, speeches some brutal moves and extremely impressive abilities in dragon form, never expected him to make Onigashima an ENTIRE ISLAND fly too. But Oda is getting really lazy at writing certain types of characters especially.

Harald was alive and in his prime 14 years ago on Elbaf, at which point Kaido was either an emperor or coming into his prime. Couldn’t Kaido have gone to challenge Harald, someone that he would know is on par with Rocks a man in his top 5?

If this counts as ducking, then what about when Kizaru was on Vegapunk’s island for years? That was DEFINITELY during Kaido’s reign.

And both Elbaf and Egghead are right next to Wano….

Harald being alive and in his prime during Kaido's reign really takes a hit on Harald. Kaido's portrayal is too strong, both within the manga and secondary sources (SBS, narrator notes, etc.).

etc. It was with the world being aware of Harald.

Kaido could have been top 5 or 3 OP villains imo if Oda was consistent with him and also just kept the Oden shit to a minimum. I don't necessarily have a problem with him respecting Oden and all that since every top or even god tier has a rival they respect and sometimes even fear (Imu who's the second strongest character is still getting ptsd from Joyboy to this day, for example), but Oda went overboard with it and ended up making both Kaido and Oden look like morons who were likely gay for each other.
I think the Oden glaze should have only been a thing when he was fighting the Scabbards, since they're his disciples and use his sword style and what not. Otherwise it just feels weird and out of place, I mean imagine Mihawk fighting Vista and yapping about how Vista could never match Shanks' immense power. Or when he rematches against Zoro, and Zoro finally lands a hit on him, he says "Why does this hurt? Why do his attacks feel like Shanks' attacks? Does he possess his Haki as well?".
EVERYONE would shit on him for that because it just sounds so corny and obsessive.
I can understand Yamato obsessing over Oden, as pathetic as it is from a writing standpoint at least you can argue that she was rejected by everyone and spent a lot of her early days starving in a cell that her own father put her in, so her reading a man's journal and starting to idolize him due to him standing up to said abusive father and just generally being a very tough and admirable (to her) man who even sailed with Whitebeard and Roger makes sense. But Kaido idolizing him is just pathetic. Sure, Oden scarred him, but so did Zoro and Kaido never glazed him for that. Nor did Shanks start glazing Blackbeard for scarring him (he does keep watch on Blackbeard but he doesn't put Blackbeard in his top 5 most respected pirates or compare his opponents to him)
