A drink of mutual respect isnt to far fetched, I mean Shiki invaded Marine ford because of how much he respected Roger so I wouldn't say he's his worst enemy, just rivals like Kid and Luffy

why would crocus respect and be friendly with someone like shiki ? can you see zoro doing the same with someone like blackbeard or even doflamingo ?
pretty sure shiki tried to kill roger so I wouldn't compare their relationship with kid and luffy

Black beard- yes he seems respectable

Doffy- is an unhinged sociopath so probably not

Shiki never once tried to kill Roger in fact he wanted to ally with Roger they only fought because Roger refused to team up with him which lead to the edd war battle

And the only canon meeting between them we know about is God's Valley where Roger fought Rocks and likely didn't fight shiki in that battle

Shiki was even shown visiting whitebeard in chapter zero

As for that 20 year plan- Shiki escaped impel down 24 years ago he's kinda late and we saw a version of that plan get thwarted in strong world no reason to see it again

Tbh neither Gaban nor Shiki offer much we don't already know I just prefer it to be shiki of the two cause I think he's the better of the two characters

However else you feel about it, you can't tell me it doesn't seem appropriate to meet a third and final big time, old timer of the Roger Pirates.

We met Crocus just before the Grand Line.

Rayleigh just before the New World.

I think this is about as close as the story is going to get before the final journey to Raftel begins. It seems fitting to me for Gabban to be there to impart them with some knowledge and see them off.

Shiki is filler and used up in movie.... So gaban
.. But why would oda hype him when there is not much setup for his character.... So maybe someone else if oda us actually thinking of stuff

shiki makes sense due to his floating power. i expect that the moon will come up as a possible destination. the automata just flew there with balloons. shiki can make ships float. gaban would be a downgrade from rayleigh, but everything should get stronger, bigger, better.
